  1. i was told if there was a big size difference in squabs then there was something wrong they should be very similar in size i had this happen twice both times the smaller chick died so i was putting a pot egg in each pair that laid 2nd egg was removed and single reared this was last year now i have roller's and they are doing ok on both chicks

  4. hi every1 my young bird's are 10 days old now and i have noticed that 1 chick is making a kind of clicking noise from it's beak but i got it out today and it smells foul from the beak i have held it upside down and emptied it's crop swilled out with syringe of water emptied again and put back in nest the smell has gone but the clicking continues the parents have refilled crop and i have smelt both there beaks and they are fine any idea's to what it could be

  6. yes am after rollers but i have a limited budget and don't drive to collect so has to be local as i use my pals to take me to pick the birds up with me so i have a problem with birds from a distance
  7. not sure she said will have some in the near future i m finding it hard to find breeders of rollers in manchester i want a couple more pairs i may have to just wait till next year and breed from my own but i was looking for 4 cocks and 4 hens to pair aginst what i have here to breed new blood into my loft as mine are related in someway or another

  11. i have not long had my birds they are yearling's i have 1 set of chick's from them and 3 other pairs on egg's when they have reared them i will split them when chicks about 2 weeks old leaving cock to rear the young so they can go through the moult but i am still looking for some more birds if you hear of any in manchester let me know and i will the same for you

  14. spencer have you tried to contact the owner's of the birds as they will need to be transfered or collected by them if they permit you to rehome the birds you need transfer papers But good of you to take care of the birds have you seen the pigeon in my kitchen thread by david it's a great story maybe you could keep the birds and join the fancy
  15. i thought the moult happens at the end of summer the birds seem happy enough but i wonder if i should let them hatch these egg's or split them let them go right through the moult what does every1 think

Hi every1 my birds are just starting to go through the moult but they are also sitting egg's and i haven't had any youngster's yet as i have had a few problem's with hawk and oter ailments i bought the new birds and i would like to get a round of youngsters from each pair but if this will be to much for them i shall replace the egg's with pot egg's then seperate cock's and hen's if i do this how long will the moult take and do you think i will get a round of youngsters of them after moult or again will it be to stressful i have 2 yb's in the nest but would like a few more to get for my kit to fly next year any advice would be great cheers guys and gals

  18. i use jeyes fluid every other day and milton sterilizing fluid the rest of the time but i shall cover over the pen to stop the birds getting to it I have iron tablets i could crush them and put them in a pick pot see if that works any1 else use iron tablets
  19. i have noticed the last few times my birds have been out they seem to land in my dog pen and start drinking up from puddle's of urine i have been in cleaned the pen down with water and milton and they are still landing in and glugging any idea why and will it have any effect on my birds as 1 set of the birds are feeding youngsters
  20. i was chasing 1 all over our village for a few days trying to catch it kept an eye on it took food down with a bowl got close to it not close enough to get ring number but afet a few days it flew away and haven't seen it since the other i reported a few weeks back was sent for by the owner he called upon amtrak and they were on time to collect and drop off

  25. yes i just buy a standard corn mix and pick out the maize they get maize in feed once a week and they don't do bad while flying they still preform but would be better on wheat and red band occasionally so i have been told
