Martin Harper 'No bird of prey should be culled to protect a sporting interest' well wild song birds should be afforded the same protection and they aint a sporting interest !!!! They should start to open there eyes to the fact that the red list has only ever come about at the Hands of the R.S.P.B , whilst the R.S.P.B boosted birds of prey , birds have been added to the red list a simple link nothing to do with lack of habitat as the governments has lots of farm lands and reserves that have land set aside for wild life if anything they now have more habitat and still the red list gets bigger and the bop population increases and is going unchecked . Pigeon Fanciers and Game Keepers and land owners and farmers are seeing this first hand and are far more knowledgeable at the damage these birds are causing both to industry , leisure and tourism Perhaps Defra should be the next to get a knock on there door as they got this pushed for game keepers ?????? albeit they backed down for now .

Dear Mark Reference CAS-1450939-MDTLPH Thank you for your feedback about ‘Countryfile’ on Sunday 13 May 2012. I understand you're unhappy with our bird of prey coverage as you feel our report was biased and unfair to pigeon fanciers. I note you feel we failed to provide evidence to back up the claims which were made. While Wildlife Crime Officer Josh Marshall did not explicitly say he was talking about rogue pigeon fanciers, I believe this would have been apparent to viewers bearing in mind the clarification he’d just made about gamekeepers , and the clarification he immediately went on to make about falconers. Here is a transcript of his quote for your information: “With birds of prey the national picture would suggest that with goshawks you’ve got gamekeepers or people associated with the shooting fraternity that may want to poison the birds… not saying that they all do, there’s some really reputable shoots out there as well. And peregrine falcons – again the national picture would suggest they are targeted primarily by pigeon fanciers but also falconers that are a bit unscrupulous and want to take wild birds for their stock.†Moreover, we believe there is evidence of bird of prey persecution involving rogue pigeon fanciers. For example, it’s our understanding that just five months ago a man who kept homing pigeons in Scotland was found guilty of maliciously shooting and killing a peregrine cross. More recently, police investigating alleged crimes against peregrine falcons raided the home of four pigeon fanciers, resulting in one arrest. The RSBP have told us this is an on-going case under investigation. They have also provided us with evidence of other convictions involving pigeon fanciers going back more than 30 years. We have also put your concerns to Wildlife Crime Officer Marshall. He stands by his statement based on his experience of working with the RSPB and the National Wildlife Crime Unit. I do hope you’ll feel able to accept my explanation and continue to support the programme. Kind regards, Teresa Bogan Series Producer, Countryfile www.bbc.co.uk/complaints Seems they just sweep it under the carpet biased crap and get away with it , surely a crossed falcon aint a protected species anyhow

If anyones got chickens anywhere near your loft that will be the main source but if your finding then in your loft then its needs sorting quick. Spray with Poultry Shield , then remove all bedding and nest pans and spray with Poultry Shield , then deep clean loft with Poultry Shield , then every 4 days , using a blow torch also helps in the knooks and crannys at sides of boxes Diatom is also good as a dry treatment after you've used the Poultry shield . But I also recommend using a one drop product so anything biting yer birds doesn't bite twice .

Think most have covered most aspects , it has certainly been the hardest start to racing that I can remember for a very long time , the winds not favourable heat and east wind certainly dries the birds out . I guess you have thought long and hard about giving the birds up , like most have said be a shame to see you give the birds up , you'l will always be looking at the sky when birds go over , if it's in yer blood it never goes . We all wish you the very best whatever you decide , it's ok to change yer mind and hang in there
