  2. Well done , there to do battle another day
  3. The difference with the Irish system is they have two beacons and measure accurately from these , I believe i read it many years ago on the IHU site , GPS has it's limitations as they scramble the data and can be up to 100 yards out at any time , this is the information that we are fed , however aeroplanes and boats use gps with no problem whatsoever . Maybe the problem actually is more likely to be that those that are using the gps in the first place aren't accurately using it it properly or familiar with new technology although been around for many years maybe they like to stick to map pricking because if anyone could collate loft data and race point data then a new union could be formed far much quicker with using the newer technology ????
  4. treat it with creasote then let dry a few weeks then externally bitumen paint if will last fer years
  5. You get a much better structure with the 8 x 4 sheeting go look at many members loft look at the shiplap water leaks damp , the less joints the less problems want it to look good put the ship lap on top or white upvc cladding
  6. make your own plans 2 x 2 for framing 8 x 4 sheeting if wanting top quality sheets go for marine ply 3/4 inch if not bothered about quality then shutter board 8 x 4 3/4 inch look on ebay you may get good quality seconds
  7. Our thoughts are with Davie and his family and friends at this sad and very difficult time , rest in peace Derek
  8. unless you fed your birds in there own box then you'd be certain they had been fed a mix if you feed on the floor then your birds would automatically go for there favoured grain / seed first so that would explain one reason the other reason must be on a genetic level / inherited and not much different to a skin tag apart from fills with fluid . Although I've experienced it once it was a tumbler hen so I never raced her .
  9. get some name and address rings then at least there metal and have your details on
  10. join NPA Bit expensive really for a few rings , there plastic and can easily be cut of which defeats the getting the rings in the first place
  11. My tip with Louella is try to buy the newer family's then there not as far away from original birds and if buying from them your better crossing with raced proven birds then you at least know 50% is from good stock ( your own raced birds ) jmo
  12. Get well soon , I'm sure if was having problems with his appendix although in pain wont be anywhere near the pain they give ya , we wish you a speedy recovery , health must always come first

  19. Be Interesting to go through list and see if current family members are still racing
  20. When the guys in the SNFC are getting day birds at 600 miles plus then that to me is not extreme distance jmo 1000 miles plus now that's extreme distance more of a homing event than a race jmo shame these weren't all added to the SNFC site be some good reading
  21. never been a fixed agreed band for racing terms under 240 miles to me is sprint ( my inland ) 240+ - 400's - middle distance 500+ long distance
  22. Well done guys :emoticon-0137-clapping: glad to see no damage other than loft been blown over couple of slabs in bottom of loft next time or get it anchored to ground

  25. Like I say there's many good flyers up there , post like who's the best ectra are unfair and only highlight opinions of to whom one person considers to be a good flyers but anyone with any sense will know position is everything and the north and west flyers have it heavily against them and still hold there own
