The songbird society and save our songbirds campaign is the way to go. A lot of key people in the organisation left the rspb due to the over protection and blinkered approach to raptors.

It depends what you class as lucky. The worst feeling in pigeons is when you 'win' a race and know that the bird in 2nd really beats yours. Not much fun.

I have been involved in football all my life and have run school teams and know how hard it is. Unfortunately I retired from competitive football 2 years ago at the tender age of 39 but I had a good innings. Best of luck with the sale. Paul.

We have used google map distance calculator to work it out. We selected a point then worked out the distance from that point to every loft in the club. The map calculator lets you home right into to individual houses. The distance from the race point to the breaking point is added to the distance from the breaking point to the lofts. Our birds fly a dog leg every week and in real terms some of the longest flyers have the shortest distance. This way it will make it fairer and the club more competitive. I am in the most favourable position in my club by a long way but this will hopefully help to level out the playing field a bit. Velocities will be submitted to the fed in the normal manner but the club result will be different. Paul.

26 and counting so far. 20 of those for charity sales. And no doubt there will be more to go. I think that the ability to help charities through selling pigeons is a great thing as well as helping out new starts and fanciers that are maybe having some bad luck for whatever reason. Paul.
