Oh dear. Hope you find out who dunnit because I wouldn't like to be in their shoes. Personally I would give them the same treatment. Lock them in a shed and throw a petrol bomb on the shed.

We got it a good 4 inch thick here in Dudley.
-
Sorry to here mate. Was your loft in the garden or on a allotment? If had had some more birds I would donate some youngster for you But I only got four. I'm sure everyone on here will do all they can. ****ing arsonists, why don't they burn parliment instead of helpless pigeons? Again, sorry mate.

Purchase YEARLINGS. All new starters should go for YB's or 2yo. It's like having school kids around ya.

Sprint, medium, long distance
Castleview replied to Iqbal's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Many breeds can compete in all. Jan Aardens are distance, but you can use them in sprint races for training. Van Reets are good sprinters and middle distance, some people have pushed them to distance. Like Matt said, check louella. -
Tell me about it. I had to raise the nest boxes today because the birds kept fighting on who's kipping up there tonight. I can see why so many people say YEARLINGS ARE A NIGHTMARE. Reminds me of TEENAGERS ;D ;D ;D No offence to any of you who are pigeon fanciers, but we have two around the house. Never do as they are told, think they rule the roost. Like I said to the birds, I'm the boss, you're the employees!

Yeah, two camile cardons. Purchased a lovely CHeq Cock from Vallance. Used to belong to Geoff Clare, and Vallance has loaned me a red hen to pair to the chequer

Yeah, buy a shed. Got my finished in a couple of weeks with a bit of tinkering here and there. As you can see it's a normal long apex 8 x 5. I built the windows inside then added a set of boxes. bought some loft flooring for the floor, sorted some security out although its not brilliant. slapped some airvents in that you buy from wilkos and put an aviary on the side. Started it end of feb, got it done March (had a budgie shed to do as well) should take you exactly two weeks, maybe less if you work til dark. I'll fill those gaps with cement.

I think I got the sae problem. My white cock is chasing my new pigeons all over the place. I've had to lock them up.
-
Here's an updated picture of the loft. I've installed the vents, but they are not on this picture. Got some lovely air flow through it. I also managed to capture a picture of them in their bowl. Hey Sue, I had the cock sitting on my shoulder today. When you hold them just open your hand and see if they stay. if they do stroke their backs lightly. My hen is not so nervous now, she's beginning to accept the hands but still attempts to run. the cock just stands there and says 'grab me' ;D

Nice trap. I made a similar one but on a dowelled door.

Nice boxes

At least you won't have to worry about pesky sparrows contaminating water. You're doing a good job their damian, get some nice pigeons and you'll do even better.
-
Very nice setup Damian. I would substitute the wire netting for 1cm by 1cm. I had that stuff back in 1996 and sparrows kept coming into the loft drinking and eating. With the current state of Bird Flu (though it's not big) putting smaller netting will stop the sparrows entering and give you peace of mind that they have no contact with wild birds. Just an opinion

I was thinking the same think Chrisss. Ireland would be good to fly from.
-
Scary! ;D Looks like the things out of Ghostbusters. No really, nice animal..slobbery but nice.
-
At least at home the wife can make a cuppa tea, downfall is she can clobber you with a frying pan if you spend more time with the pigeons than her ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Not To worry now. Sorted thanks to Vallance Lofts ;D
-
Yes indeed. My Hens eye looks like the Best Eye only it dark where its white because it's bull eye.
-
I'd go for the garden every time. Alotments tend to get problems with thefts, arsonists and animal cruelity by massacring the birds. As you say you can spend time with them. Become a quality fancier not a quantity. Every year pick you best and sell the rest in the paper, or cull them yourself. After 10 years you'll have a good team of birds breeding quality birds

Tame your babies by handling them every day, when they are older get them t eat out your hand instead of the hopper.

Hi All, I am looking for a Red Hen and a Blue Cock (Old Birds), preferably the in the midlands area as it's not to far for us or fuel wise either. PM with any prices (no silly ones). Thanks all
-
Yeah theres some small stuff in it. Like I say the wormer ends in three days, if it's still the same I'll put it to the food.
-
New Shed, New Nest, New Everything. No nesting, but should be laying around 8th of April. I've put them on a 3 day course of wormers. If her droppings don't change then she hasn't got worms. Like I say theres no slime or anything. I feed them on V.Laga All Round Mix (all I can afford at the minute) fresh water daily. It's probably just me being paranoid after the bad experiences I had ten years ago. I do remember some of my birds having the same chelsea bun style so it probably is me. I'll see if the wormer does anything, let you know in three days.

Yeah, Camiel Cardons. Hen is lovely to handle, the cock is part tame. Had him eating out of my hand the other day. ;D ;D
