  1. gettng started with pigeons last young bird season with a friend of my late husband who, passed away nearly 3 years ago. Also getting up in the morning to clean out and feed our birds and helping train and watch them arrive home from training and races. Can't wait to see eggs hatch and race next year.
  2. i've been today bought a long handled scraper to save my poor old knees, there were plenty of people there not many women tho, they'd probably gone shopping into Doncaster. I'm looking forward to Blackpool not just the show but I go with friends who make sure I have a good weekend and its nice to meet some of my late huusbands friends there.
  3. i made a mistake of when my late husband and I won Bergerac MNFC it was 2003 not 2006 as I've stated, sorry.
  4. sorry to hear about your health, I don't know you as i'm new to all this, hope you can start again in a few years.
  5. I must agree that the member has flown against more birds but I do know Derbyshire Fed is a large fed I'm not sure how many birds we flew against., also the MNFC . Anyway I'm not wanting a trophy I'm just proud to have achieved what we did without the knowledge that my late husband had ,to help us. I should have taken more notice of what he said and did.
  6. I started to fly again last young bird season since my husband passed away in 2006. Officially my name goes on membership next Feb but I 've been doing my part cleaning out feeding and helping train and race them, with a friend of my late husband who hasnt raced for around 27yrs. He was at school when my husband and I moved to Doncaster from Barry S Wales. We did quite well in club racing getting 1x1st, 1x 2nd, 2x3rd, 4x4th and 7 noms. We also got 2nd Fed in the Derbyshire Fed. We came 34th in the Grand National withDerby, Burton South Rd Fed from St MALO and with MNFC from Lessay we were 26th NE section and 19th East section Treble Chance Race from France. We did better then we expected but my partner has worked so hard training before he went to work. I was up at 415am ready to basket as he 'd collect them around 5 so it was a long day for both of us. My late husband and I won Bergerac MNFC in 2006 602 mls on the day so maybe we 'll get better next season it won't be for not trying
  7. when I was in Spain in June I got boxes of Flagyl over the counter from chemists. When my late husband and I were there on our last holiday he had me going in every chemist buying 2 boxes on the way into Salou what a way to spend a pleasant walk along the sea front.
  8. My thoughts are with you at this very sad time
  9. how much vinegar do you use
  10. permagamate potash if thats how you spell it i put a little on the end of a dry spoon so my fingers dont stain you dont need to use much and its good and cheap from chemists. My late husband always used it or vinegar so im using same
  11. i agree with chickadee, its quite funny, but not all men get to choose sadly in my late husbands case but i did enjoy reading it

  14. mine was starting up with young birds again with a friend of my late husband. We got 2nd and 3rd first race and 1st Club and 2nd Derbyshire Fed a few weeks later. We also did well in the Grand National Race withDerby and Burton South Rd Fed coming 34th also doing well in MNFC Lessay and Picauville winning pools. Can't wait till next year for the season to arrive. It has given me something to work and look forward to since my husband passed away. I'm sure he'd be proud of me, we won Bergerac MNFC in 2003 hopefully i'll suceed again.

  19. thanks for wishing us good luck we'll need it, also sent 3 to St Malo with Derby,Burton and District S.R.Fed
  20. we have its to Lessay. Its our first season I used to fly with my husband who flew with the MNFC, we won Bergerac 602 mls in 2003 sadly he passed away Feb 2006 and a friend of his is flying from our lofts and I'm helping him, my name will go on the partnership next year, he hasnt flow for over 28years.
  21. i phoned Amtrak in Rotherham last Wednesday morning to collect a bird from up North and it was picked up on Thursday and delivered to me at 1030 Friday morning, no problem with it at all.
  22. when my late husband started back in the sport in 2000 I was fed up with him ,all he did was read, watch videos and talk pigeons. He had to go into hospital and I was left to clean and look after them and make sure new youngsters were eating and drinking ok. From then on I became really involved. Sadly he passed away feb 2006 but I have just started up again with the help of a friend of his. I coul'nt do it without him and he coul'nt do it without me as he works full time, i'm semi retired. It has been the best thing I could have done, meeting all my husbands friends and getting involved with the clubs again . we even won the 4th young bird race and came 2nd Fed and was 2nd and 3rd in the first race.
  23. are you the same Hallam and Sayers that came 2nd Bergerac MNFC in 2003. My husband and I came 1st but sadly he passed away just over 2 years ago I'm now going to race with a friend of his who hasnt flown for over 25 yrs this young bird season. He was really proud to have won the race but often said he was lucky as he could have come second which was still an achievement. If you are the partnership I remember him going over to you to congratulate you at the bar on the presentation night. I dont suppose well do as well but it wont be for not trying. I only hope he's looking down on us and wishing us well.
  24. stick with them if you can when my husband and I flew together there was always somone jealous but he wouldnt give in to them. Sadly he passed away just over 2 years ago but he loved his birds and was very proud when we won MNFC Bergerac 603 mls on day in 2003 after only coming back in the sport less then a year. I have missed flying and meeting his good friends and now I shall be flying with a friend of his who hasnt flow for over 25 years who finds things have changed quite a lot but he says you always got the jealous ones even then, especialy if you did well, not much change now with so many arson attacks on lofts etc. Hope you make it.
  25. im using a whistle to train the young birds. I use it to get them in when its feed time. works really well. Ive just started up with young birds for July racing with a friend of my husband who passed away just over 2 years ago, he always used the whistle. when you feed them blow it and they soon get to know very quickly what it means. It also works if a few go on the roof, blow and they come down. A friend of my husband uses a bell which he finds works well. Luckily Ive got another friend of my late husband who hasnt flown for over 25 years to fly with me he's really knowledgable can't wait to fly our first race hope he's looking down when we do it
