Take the offer of the Sputnik for the birds to come up into then when they've had a few days to get used to it keep them a little hungry and they are ready to let walk out in there own time! Don't force them out or frighten them or they may take straight to the sky. The first time i let my yb's out each year I keep them hungry let them walk out and chuck a few grains around the decking for them to peck at but because every time they are fed I whistle and shake the tin, when i'm ready to get them in (usualy after about 10mins first couple of times out) all i need to do is whistle shake the tin and they shoot straight back in the loft for tea.

Last time I went, a few years ago there were a couple of people who had set up more professional stalls selling birds with pedigrees and asking more for them! I think the fun of Lier is buying cheap birds that can be flown and tested.

The air needs to change constantly within the loft, with as little draft as possible. Hot, stale air will rise so if you fresh air coming in at the front, ground level then you need somewhere for it to expel. Depending on the design of your loft, if your roof timbers run from front to back and sit on the back section there should be a 2" air gap all the way which is ample.

Totaly agree with the way prices are going! Why don't the unions become the agents for electronic equiptment selling to it membership for near cost? The manufacturers would be making there profit but members wouldn't be linning agents pockets?

the birds won't remove the unhatched egg. Pick it up and shine a torch through it, if its clear and you can see through the egg was infertile if the torch won't shine through, shake the egg, if it rattles (the insides shake around) the chick has died during its development.
