  6. It's nothing to do with luck Ant, its careful planning and forethought! To many just keep thrashing the birds week in week out without any thought for holdovers, the race programme etc.
  7. we all live and learn buts its always easy to look everywhere but under you nose for a reason!
  8. if they flinch in the same position, do they do it on a sunny and overcast day? If only on a sunny day there could be something like a galvanised roof sheet reflecting the sun up at them!

  12. a lot have the oinion that if the birds get a good start the'll come through rain at the home end.
  13. Mark, my garden was basicaly a court yard when I raced in East London, it ws between 2 terraces of houses and the first I saw of a bird was when it fell from the sky but they still didn't go on the roof! If you've allowed them to from youngbirds they always will, dog behind the loft or not! Don't allow them to get into bad habbits in the first place as they are hard to break.
  14. If the wind picks up and moves any early mist they've got a chance but if it stays closed in again I can see them brining them back nearer home on tues.
  15. They were changed at the beggining of the season to help prevent clashing, for everybodys benefit! I left Wales this morning and drove accross to Peterborough arriving at about 10 and at no point enroute was it fit to liberate birds! We stayed there for a couple of hours and the fog started to burn off but it still didn't clear. On the way back we then hit heavy rain and the first fit weather we hit was when back in South Wales before yet again coming into rain at the home end! Def the right desicion to hold! Phil
  16. Alls well that ends well, Still going to Spalding tomorrow if any to collect for return to Wales
  17. better of throwing it at the cat as it will run away as soon as it sees you before you can use ultrasonic!
  18. Its never a bad time to get started! At the begging of the year is a good time to get youngbirds to train and race that season but autumn is a good time to get latebreds from peoples race teams or stock loft for future stock. Phil
  19. We will be going from South Wales to Peterborough and back on Sunday if anybody has birds needing a lift. Phil
  20. A lot! I don't mind, she's showing her dogs so it lets me get on with the birds.
  21. yes Ted
  22. Wifes going to look at a new show pup not far from there
  23. The youngbird programme is poor this year, it hasn't given anybody the chance to get latter birds or injured birds back into the programme.
  24. Not sure where HQ is but if you take the tring road out of Dunstable on the right hand side you'll see a big loft behind a bungalow, call in there and Pete will give you all the local details.
