  1. maybe not now Tom, but sure all members of the fed will be sweating when they are asked to put there hands in there pockets and bail the fed out!
  2. no way i want to be in it!
  3. lol
  4. its already done and dusted behind closed doors the way they normally organise things
  5. its not a national, just a mickey mouse outfit trying to be!
  6. appart from maybe jumping the gun with new website!
  7. i hope after all your efforts Tom that nobody objects to it affiliation but no doughbt that's already been sorted!
  8. What new route? This is the same direction they already fly!
  9. modenas and kings have been developed for the table and not there flying ability! Fantails don't fly a lot but tumblers and tiplers are good flyers and facinating to watch perform in the sky.
  10. its just another case of thge WNRF wanting everything there own way and when they can't have it they throw there toys and run off and try to go it alone! They'll come crawling back to the combine when they've broken the bank again!
  11. They won't open it up, must be affraid of the competition!
  12. It won't even be a South Wales National, why do we want another one? Its just the WNRF pretending to be something they are not, there will be no more birds going than any decent fed and when it comes to the distance races I can't see how they will make it viable with the small entry they will get, that is of course if they get affiliation to form a so called national!
  13. its only a national in there imagination!
  14. what other feds are likely to join it other than the wnrf?
  15. has this new national been affiliated to a union yet as i've not seen it advertised?
  16. fantails, tumblers, anything realy will free fly to a dovecot etc in the back yard but best to settle youngbirds to it rather than trying to break oldbirds. There are some pics on here somewhere showing nets over dovescotes to settle youngbirds when first introduced to there new home but what you do need to consider is your local hawk problem. If you have a problem in your area you are likely to lose the birds fairly quickly! Phil
  17. That was my reason for asking if anybody knew them but only 1 person has responded to that! If they are put in touch with this site i'm sure help will be given although nobody has offered any :'( :'(

    racing hens

If you've got beter hens then race them on true widowhood, 2 hens to 1 cock and they'll beat the cocks every time!
  19. even an anti cat trap isn't 100% cat proof etc. If you are going to use them they are best used for late birds to re-enter the loft corridor or an empty section. This firstly prevents anything sitting on the inside and secondly if something gets through the trap it can't get to your birds! Do you also want strays going into your birds which may be carrying any infections? Phil
  20. Does anybody on the forum know these guys to offer our sympathy and help? Phil
  21. well done, you've clearly been working hard and deserve success! Phil
  22. I have just received the sad news that Pauls has been beaten by cancer this morning. For those who had his birds etc and had the pleasure to meet him and wife Jenny he was a remarkable and knowledgeable fancier and friend. R.I.P old friend, you'll be sadly missed! Phil
  23. Bird man, if you are trying to get as many as you can from a hen then you would be best to let her lay, move 1st round to feeders, let her sit and hatch 2nd round, when she lays 3rd round move them again to feeders and let her sit next round etc. This way you will easily get 5/6 rounds from her in 1 season but doing this will reduce the breeding life of the hen as they only carry a limited amount of eggs and oncw they are gone they are gone. Eggs can easily be stored for weeks as has been said above so its best to pair your stock up a few days before you pair your feeders so that the feeders are laying after the stock to enable you to put the collected eggs under them. Phil
  24. If you don't want eggs to hatch then replace them with dummy eggs to prevent overcrowding. Some fanciers don't allow there widowhood hens to fly out they are just kept for the cockbirds but others allow them to excercise daily it all depends on your set up and being able to let the hens out without the cockbirds knowing they are there! Phil

    stock hens

Have any of the hens laid? If not then something is wrong but as Tony says they should still be allowed a certain amount of freedom.
