    flu

and confirmed in Spain so don't think it'll be long before racing is stopped again being related to bird flu!
  2. the kormorners are great, parents have had them for years and they fly well, it'll be some funny looking youngsters you get from those two!
  3. not to mention, with you chasing him as well!
  4. the updates only seem to be a problem with unikon and the agents run for cover!
  5. scumbags
  6. maybe the unions should remove unikon from the approved list until they can resolve the problems! I'm sure they would get there fingure out then!
  7. there is to little communication between convoyers and race organisers, always has been and it seems always will be! If you know there is a possibility of 2 liberations of approx 20,000 birds in each heading towards you would you liberate? Anybody with any sense would check for other liberations and then allow the birds to pass before liberating to give there charges a fair chance but this happens time and time again. The convoyers job isn't an easy one but a lot more can be done to avoid clashing etc.
  8. they should have a fesh supply of grit and minerals at all times unless they are receiving medication.
  9. hopefully J A M will give you some tips but i would start by going back to basics and sorting out a good feed programme with vits, mins and grit etc.
  10. where are you starter?
  11. you inject at the back of the neck under the skin. It could be worth getting the droppings tested incase there is another problem. What are you feeding them on? Phil
  12. you can do it yourself but the vaccine is only available in 80 or 200 dose bottles so maybe cheaper for a vet to give you 2 jabs unless you can find a local fancier who can sort you out with some.
  13. forget the baby food, give them access to both black and red mineral, changing it every couple of days. What grit do you give them? Measure the food, they are having to much.
  14. I would sugest that you get both birds vaccinated against pmv as there is nothing you can do to give them natural immunity to pmv. it may have just got lazy knowing you are going to feed it, if you don't feed it for a day then put some corn in a pot and tap your fingure into the corn the bird should copy you and also peck at the corn.
  15. how much are you feeding them? what vits and mins?
  16. experience has told me it'll never be any good, but always willing to be proved wrong!
  17. why oh why do people keep pushing Baytril! I think as a new starter i wouldn't worry about trying roundabout etc, I would race natural and learn about your birds. it would sugest that if you are always 1/2hr behind that it is your system/routine that is the problem. If you list your daily routine, how much you feed, what addatives used, what if anything you put in the water, daily excercise routine, training routine etc then we may be able to guide you.
  18. if I see it in an old bird i won't touch it!
  19. Well done Diane for takeing the trouble to help the little fella and well done Clockey for helping a damsel in distress! Phil
  20. As David says they are or should be capable of flying at that age. Before you think about letting them out get them used to you, when you feed them, call them, shake the food tin or whisstle, doesn't matter which you use but the birds will get to know which ever call you use means its feed time. When you do get the birds going out you can then get them in easly asuming they are hungry. If you can also put some kind of cage on the front of the loft this will allow the birds to aso have a good look around the area before going out.
  21. Diane, also if you open the birds wing you may find the telephone number of the owner stamped on the long wing flights. Could be in either wing.

clear to read on there web site:- We also provide a stray service for Racing Pigeons either by returning or pickup point for lost pigeons. Got pigeons in the loft we provide a pest removal service. All pest will be re homed back to their original owners and or released away from home.

    pigeons wanted

Sham really. I advocted that each club spent a little time every so often to trap and clean up the Feral / Strays from Town centres etc. Was met with .... Well really with 'Good idea if YOU want to do it' Full stop. Now with a proper stray catching device etc, out of publics eye, I still believe that it would be a good thing .... Seen a street where - ok is derelict now - just off town centre where they have literally picked the wall too bits... hardly any lime cememt left etc.... HARDLY A Good thing for the genuine public to see and be conscouis of. Especailly when -ONE DAY we may very well want them to take on board our phlight regards the BOP etc. JMO I agree ferals need to be dealt with in all locations as they are what the public see to be our pigeons! The problem comes when stray cathers try to profit from the fanciers when they find a rung bird or in the case of at least one certain stray catcher in Birmingham where local fanciers take him there strays, probably for reward or to just save them the agro of reporting them. These are then reported to the RPRA and the stray catcher sends the registered keeper a letter charging them a fee for finding/catching the bird and a daily holding fee until the bird is sent for! Is the the sort of stray catching that need promoting?
  24. Gail J will confirm what i've said. Its always worth checking when joining a new club if they have ets or before buying it. It maybe as simple as the club doesn't have the club equiptment to opporate ets in which case you can either provide it or try and persued the club to get one.
  25. Yes, it can be used in any club but unless somebody is willing to opporate it how can you use it?
