  1. Could be under or over feeding!
  2. thanks Tom
  3. anybody know whats happened to there web site?
  4. I think when youngbirds are getting fit and full of fly being kept in for a day gets them frustrated. They want to be out and fly. If for any reason i can't let mine out for a day the food is cut back a bit so when they do go back out they are that bit hungrier and won't be so full of fly. IMO
  5. write all your pairs ring numbers into a note book each year and then the ring numbers of there offspring. If you want to you can then transfer the information to one of the computer loft management systems or just keep your note books to refer back to.
  6. good advice, once they have learnt to leave the basket and go straight home they won't forget it as long as they know there is something waiting for them! If the birds are homing then rangeing or rangeing before coming home as a lot do on short tosses give them excercise before you train, call them in then basket them and take them it will take the sting out of them.

    latebreds

patience is the game with yearlings and i don't have it! When old bird training starts they've got to go but those that do make it turn into good ones! 3yrs ago 1 latebred, not trained as a yb went to the first 5 races, won 3 of them and was 2nd and 3rd in the other 2.

  13. I thought there were problems at this loft, anybody know what the current situation with the birds is?
  14. I agree with you we need to use him and the birds are coming well, split up but its makeing them think which is what we want as none have been raced or trained before . I'm sure you've seen the red kite feeding on the telly, the birds come from miles knowing 3pm is the feeding time, i think the hawks know 12pm on tue and thurs is feeding time at Raglan!
  15. i've got 30 flying 1 1/2 hrs and rangeing well. They have only been excercised in the evenings so i've just switched them to early morning excercise and they will be going down the road monday morning. I would like to get them in with Charlie but every toss with him we've had birds hit and i wonder if its because he is liberating in the same place, same time, same days of the week. I reckon the hawks are waiting for him, dinner time!

  24. if you have joined a club the sec etc will come to you with a map on which they will make a pin hole in the position of your loft. They will then send the map to the union to calculate your longitude and latitude and provide required distances.
