  5. just sitting and watching their behaviour,, on a lovely day , quite amazing, really how they are all individuals , and behave differently
  6. ;D ;D ;D,,,,, maybe worth remembering the famous" auld reekie" was trained as a yb,, went to a one loft race that year,,then broken,, never raced as a yearling,,, one of the best birds ever
  7. i knew gearge dawes well, and know he spared no cash to purchase the best and closest kirkpatricks to the original lines,, in fact, if i remember well, he was the only man in the uk to have the last living g/son from "solway king" ,,,,,he purchased many a" kirkpatrick"direct from national winners

    Derby Notes

well done jason,, beautifull birds , like father, like son
  9. i would agree with this post,, , i would certainly not train them too early in any poss bad weather , these are your future team , sometimes over keenness can force you into hard training , early,, i would suggest this the very wrong thing,to do, yearlings usualy come in to their best form[form that will last longer[ in the month of may,, ] id be far more inclined to wait untill they are on widowhood, ranging well, [being un raced as yb,s will ensure this,,,fresh pigeons] then a few trainers when the weather heats up :-/ ;D] i would be happy just to get a few races under there belt,,,,, then as two year olds ,, the skies the limit,, wish you well
  10. i was a t,v aerial rigger,,,re-tired now,, but this would sure have come in handy , when i did do this job ;D ;D ;D
  11. it seems really kind of you to take this pigeon to the vet, i should think that the best thing posible,, as there could be possibly something seroiusly wrong with it,,i certainly hope not, for your sake ,, but vet,, asap,, and best of luck
  12. hope the weather stays brightfor you,,, it certainly helps,, good luck
  13. ;D ;D ;D see, told you it works ;D ;D ;D
  14. first of all fly spray works well [birds dont like it ] also roland has a point here,, but theres a difference to the odd lice, wich you will find anytime if you really try,,,,, than birds being completely lousy usually an ill bird or a dirty loft,, an ill bird will stop preening itself i,e stop using its oil gland on its back,, but a bird with the odd lice will preen itself more , producing better quality feathering ,, nature worst thing in the loft is mite and flies ,,fly spray works on these , especially ,,flies ;D ;D
  15. this is very true,,they still do,, and in my opinion is the best way,, winners to winners at your particular distance ,,irrespective of so-called breeds ,,
  16. i have did this in the past,, enjoyed it as much as the kids ;D took all the notes back with their signatures , kids just love baby pigeons , white ones etc,, at first frightened to touch the birds,, then when one did it ,,they all did it
  17. i remember a longtown race ;D 62 miles ,, winner took four and a half hours,, hit snow,, if you timed in on the day,,, you were on the result ;D
  18. ;D ;D,happy birthday all
  19. welcome kipper look forward to seeing your posts , hope you enjoy the forum
  20. an excellent post frank1,, i believe fanciers are being led [sometimes un-intentionaly] in buying so-called pure breeds a question asked by me to a well known top flier, about breeds ,,,, for selling pure ,,,,,,for racing crossed , think that speaks for itself
  21. we tend to term pigeons as a pure bred ,, whatever,, van this,,van that,, i beleive there is no such thing as a" pure bred pigeon" of any so-called strain

    worms

an excellent post indeed worth the keeping on the health topics ,, rather than fade away into the pages of the main notice board
  23. is there such a thing as a pure bred pigeon,, in the breeding sense??
  24. my sentiments exactly,, no pure breeds [as theres no such thing ] simply winner to winner , then do as sapper says ;D
  25. time for the hedrin ;D ;D ;D ;D time for the aspirin ;D ;D ;D
