yes, i remember this very well , my mate lewis mitchel was 8th open with a pigeon that had scored both in snfc 4 times and fife fed 4 times from over 500 miles,, just goes to show , exceptional pigeons can make it against all odds [in that race , i lost 3 cocks 2 of them scoring in snfc b4 ],, makes you wonder at times whats in the air sometimes,,??and what makes some days , good race days others , with seemingly the same weather conditions , bad race days [allthough maybe obvious in this race] but the same happened when j, williams and son gilmerton, won the tours race, only a handfull back in 3 days,,, luckily, the likes of these two races mentioned are very, very rare indeed ,and in the space of many many years !!

Massive outbreak of YB Sickness on the continent
jimmy white replied to PigeonDesigner's topic in Notice Board
i would agree with this post,, one of the main causes of yb sickness is stress,,and by many years of ruining the pigeons consitution, by, as above,,,",many underlying problems" ,,,man made probs -
true,, any opinion is only the posters opinion,, but postings about pigeons by many a wide and varied voice,,, fanciers , could help any old hand/ newcommer alike, among the many different opinions , the poss new fancier/old hand can form his or her own opinion

the ratio for woman keeping pigeons against men, are very low, however the few that do keep them ,seem to make excellent fanciers , and have better results than men :'( :'( i,e, [in ratio] ,,, woman seem to be far more patient , are far more thoughtfull , regarding the racing or the keeping of pigeons, [ and have far more common sense ;D ;D ooooh ;D that hurt, but never the less true ;D ;D ;D]
-
yes, in my opinion, common sense indeed by the same token,it is also common sense, if many fanciers put their pigeons through less stress,,,,, i,e overcrowding, wild pigeons, more ventilation, less "hammering" down the road , grabbing birds in mid-air , banging them in a basket, rushing to the training point, out the boot,,no water,, release :)etc etc there are many factors that can cause needless stress , these factors can very well, up the level of cocci, canker, and even worms and indeed the cause of many secondry infections too

this is exactly their strategy,, statistics,, but for every pigeon killed by a perigrine , there are hundreds maimed and killed by loosing all their faculties and flying head into trees , walls, windows, passing traffic etc ,its not the one they kill, its the damage they do to the batch , ive wittnessed this many times ,,just been trying to find pics i took of this happenning , cant find them at the moment ,,too tired , but releasing 40 odd pigeons perigrine killing one, 7 got home , 4 reported damaged ,one reported dead , one reported from gamekeeper when it hit his window [still alive], window smeared with blood ,, this does not show on the rspb ,s statistics ,, i perigrine.... carnage to 40 odd birds , that could well have been a batch of 100,, same result pay no attention to pic,, wrong one

;D ;D ;D i suppose every little helps ,, but their far to mighty for this to effect them,, i have to say that seeing this wee document in this pet shop window,,, kinda made my blood boil,, very neatly and gently persuading the public to join their organisation and donate money ,,,as i said b4 if we could counteract that , in the same neat and gentle way,by persuading the public, that in fact the truth is, by donating money and joining, they are in fact helping destroy these song birds, and most other birds now fastly dissapearing, as the rspb are protecting the very thing that is killing them, the hawks!!!
-
definately agree,, im quite sure if they put a loft up in one of their nature reserves , would maybe get a true reading then,,,and this is the bit,,,they are gulling the general public into their own veiws.... if by some means, the general public, could really find,or know the truth , things could just maybe that wee bitty different :-/
-
;D ;D ;D welcome matey

it could well be possible [from various sources] to form a petition like this ,,,,but as you say "do we have enough proof, that hawks are the main cause of the decline in song bird numbers",,, this would be my reservations also,, but the problem goes back to the rspb,, im quite sure they would make sure there wasnt enough proof ,, but is it fair for the rspb to publish a document that bears no proof either, it seems they are assuming that it is lack of habitat,,, and as i said b4 ,,a house sparrow with lack of habitat ,, crazy :-/
-
oooooh some question only way i can explain ;D is , i timed a bird from a 505 mile race at 10 23pm on the day ,,race closed at 10 30 p,m ,,, timed another at 4 20 in the morning , race opened 4,30 am ,,, the day bird beat the morning bird by 7 mins ??/ darkness hours debatable subject
-
ys, the hawks are never mentioned,, but they[the rspb] have admitted that their at their highest level now, since the d,d,t, scare, many years ago now,,, if their at their highest level now,, one wonders what the level will be like in a few years time, how they will survive, and what they will eat :-/
-
yes , i would agree, a vaccination is not a treatment, but a safegaurd to save a treatment
-
r,s,p.b- 124,172 acres,,,,,,, and not a mention of our wee cock sparra ,,, i think they just need two acres ;D
-
thing is,, they are actually printing a" mandate ", a signed legal document, that is obviously lies ,, surely something can be done,, if proven wrong by law,, ,, it seems that the mighty rspb are even above the law :-/[or think they are] this cannot be right a house sparrow with no habitat,,,,mad
