somebody got a bargain there anyway ;D

,,,if you put two birds in the one thimble , a non pooler and a pooler ,, both these birds would be the same time , if there was a pooler in front of them that would win the pools , but if there was a pooler at the back of them , that woud be beaten for the pools, both birds in the one thimble would be the same time [no bird could be between them ]

paulo ,congrats on a great reading thread, obviously put a lot of time and effort in to it, but the whole thread and also the contributers have made it very interesting indeed i would love to see more threads like that , of the older pioneers of pigeon racing which no doubt many of our winners today will have their blood in them, it cerainly makes a change reading about all these interesting old fanciers, must say i was fair engrossed in it :)

i think if you delve a bit into the myrtle lofts of m and d evans , youll find that they had indeed bought many of karel hermans champions many years ago, these were the breeding of ," the scherpe," "velthem," "the two blacks" "bordeeaux" "the famme" " the cahor" " westerloo" and many more of karel hermans top breeders and racers , then of course massarreli bought them at a later stage , but these were some of the breeding that came in to this country of the karel hermans , allthough there were many colours i remember most of them bing jet black ,hence "the two blacks"

sorry tammy you will find your wrong there.

allthough this is a difficult situation , and i know my post would be ok if it was as simple as that [which its not] and again while i agree the praivailing wind is west , there are also many saturdays where weve had east in the wind, but one thing for certain is we cant change the weather, i think the main point in scotland is the first 4 yb races [all short races where the majority of ybs are lost ,year after year] if i stand on the top of carter bar , i can see coldstream, kelso, ridsdale, and otterburn [and my eye sight is not great ] but from these racepoints theres transporters waiting in ques to release birds , some going west , some going east some going north , and all trying to get their birds off as soon as poss [sometimes 15 mins between libs]and thats b4 were even on the subject of n and s rd [because if theres no ybs left after these races we wont need to argue about n and s racing], i can see square pegs point of veiw comes in , and would agree with it , but b4 that i think we have to get thse 4 race points for ybs sorted out first these are only 50 60 mile races so why they all have to go for a sat morn , beats me im sure something could be organized that we can have a sat race , a sun , race and even a wed race , birds to come home after 5 or even 5 30, at least each fed would be heading the one way, instead of one big clatter allover the place, but looking beyond these races , if you look at the map of all the libs in brittain on a sat morn , its looks like a kid been scribbling on a note pad, their going all directions, so no i, sgree with race controllers talking to each other as no 2 and i also agree that saturday is not the only day in the week, but i think that when feds are making their race points at their meetings , they should be in touch with other feds who are doing the same , and working with each other, instead of going to their meeting and voting , right thats the race points lads , then only to find out the worse when the races start,,,, better come off my soap box here getting carried away :) , but i think youll get the jist of what im trying to say :) i just wonder how many ybs are lost, pentland fed , midlothian fed [why they cant get up together beats me , its the same place] the fife fed , the nw fed the w fed the east of scot fed, both lanarkshire feds and many others all at these race points on the same morning, [must be thousands lost in a few weeks , EVERY year], now off for a coffee and asprin ;D ;D ;D by the time you read it youll need the same ;D ;D all the best anyway ;D

cant give you much info d d but original strain was karel herman

cetrimide you can buy in the chemist over the counter,[or you used to anyway] but its an antimicrobotic disinfectant and is an agent that destroys microorganisms that carry desease, which , when i got free, used to wash loft floor with it in the summer, and dilute in a watering can and spray all the outside of loft path , and garden, as thats where most worm eggs and cocci oocysts survive , in the damp conditions [and it has a lovely smell ;D]

;D ;D ;D ;D rose,,,ill take tammy ;D ;D

yes pouw22 i agree with you , i had put a cheaper exteriar ply round the eaves of my house and it lasted no time atall, i then had to re do the job with expensive marine ply , and that has withstood the weather also for the 6 years ive been in this house.
-
tammy fifer said " marine ply" theres a big differance from external ply,,,,and marine ply,
-
ithink citromed is the norwgian name , but im allmost sure its the same as english cetromide,
-
keith, are you sure its maybe CETRIMIDE not thinking of,,this has many uses as a disinfectant and sterilizing agent , which could be used on the ground under your dovecote, in fact could be used by many fanciers for outside the loft on pathways etc or even for footdips at lofts , the reason i mention this is when i worked in the hospital , i used to use this [its used in hospitals for disinfectant and other reasons etc,]

i think that birds flying south road and birds flying north rd would be flying at differant heights as opposing winds , but as ybs would find it a dodgy situation, as in no wind ?
-
in more recent years than last post ;D ;D have tried both ,i,e training ybs 3 races to 100 miles then stopped them let them moult .. natural ,,,then raced a team of darkness ybs right to the end ,,, as yearlings and older birds made no differance to either birds or results,,,,just that i found i had more ybs left this way
