  13. i beleive if you can get your ybs ranging for a couple of hours every day ,, they can go 30 miles and home ok , i knew of eddie newcombe traing his ybs 50 miles first toss,,,but they were ready for it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,the reason i say this 30 miles is when i moved to kelso , ybs got out ,singly,, returned to edin,,,,,,but i suppose the safest way is staging them,,,5 10 15 20 then a few times at this b4 going further
  14. and the wee beasties like them too [haven for germs , a basket if not kept in order ]
  15. second part of ib,s post,,,,,,,,,,,, i cant see the last topics on bird flue on sticky now, mostly kept up to date by bruno,, ,, this may well be on somewhere, but it was mostly bruno that did a heck of a lot of work in informing the forum ,, that kept us well informed , i think it would serve good purpose if it was put back on.
  16. nothing if its done regular [

  18. pylon wires have been a big hazard in pigeon racing , there's nothing they can do about these ,[for this time being] telephone wires used to be" corked" if you phoned B,T now thet dont do this , but discs are the best things on telephone wires , if you can diy,,

  22. hi Damian,,,,never noticed Cheshire :-/ still , it has not been the driest time, im just thinking maybe rightly or wrongly, are you sure this is respiratory?, do the stock birds fly out?, as ive seen fat hens kinda grunt like that , but if it is repiratory probs you may find there will be more with it, maybe unnoticable . as i said b4 the fresh air and the sun are great healers [thats if we get any ,up here ] but if i were to treat , which i would be loath to do , i would treat them all with tylan , thatll cure it ok, but finding out the cause is allways best
  23. i would be more inclined .........Damian,,,,,,,,to make sure you have plenty air space per bird, and the loft is not overcrowded, and bone dry,, [do you live in Scot, as we've had some really damp wet weather lately ,especially today , really miserable wet and dank :'(] but as to your question , if i thought it was really bad , i would treat them all [as even the yb,s just hatched will not come on ,being fed by infected birds] but dryness and fresh air is the best cure,, hope things go well
  24. at this time of the year most fanciers are thinking about the distance racing and the conditon to send them ,, it may well be worth a look at the snfc site and any other sites similar,, these sites will give you the run down on the winners and prize winners , how they were sent , how they were trained etc etc etc ,, well worth a look
