my best long distance performance ? i sent a pigeon training to doncaster (30 miles to leeds) 2 years later he was reported in warsaw poland !! , did he fly ? or did a lorry driver take him over lol
-
as a young lad , i will always remember "woodsider" belonging to jack paley of silsdon in yorkshire in the bbc palamos race, later sold to louella , then jack himself was employed by louella, others that come to mind are , as mentioned before, ritchie and bruce, lancashire rose, paul woolis's iona, brian rileys, trueman dickens pigeons, fear brothers "ramona" etc , every performance put up by stan biss, and of course , 1st international dax, when for once the nfc and bicc got together .if i missed any i appologise, but if you look at this list, great britain has the best, against the odds, internationally i always admired the american schuman performances

iare these sales entire clearence sales ? . the reason i ask is that at least 2 brownlea sons and ward pigeons are representing great britain in january at the olympiad ? if the sales are before the olympiad ? etc

R.E. the karen james situation ?

it would have been nice to see in the british homing world, at least a small piece saying that >> blah , blah , blah, until further notice ? especially as they must have scrutanised the postings on the numerous websites ?, maybe at changeover time they don't want the "boat" rocking ? does anybody ? anytime ? NO , so the simple solution is to say what they are allowed to say without prejudicing any further action ? -
R.E. the karen james situation ?
Diydave replied to Diydave's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
lol chris, i suspected so -
I don't seem to have read anything about what is happening regarding the suspension of the above named person on the chat lines , Or, in the rpra magazine "the british homing world ? has the outgoing general manager, or the new incoming general manager put any explanation to the members, as to what is happening ? has the situation been resolved ? or is it all hush hush ?

Are they ready now ??? (kidding) nice pics, and looks a very sincere advert , i'm sure there will be lots of takers

Petition-support Karen James
Diydave replied to Michael J Burden's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
the way to start to put pigeon racing right , is a vote at club level as to how we pick the general manager ?? lets vote a longstanding fancier into the position , with business accrument as well as pigeon knowledge , NOt, as the present manager, and the soon to be new manager "jobs for the boys " << will i get expelled for typing that ?? lol -
Petition-support Karen James
Diydave replied to Michael J Burden's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
having read karen james articles in the homing world , i thought she seemed to just go into the office as and when she wanted , BUT !! that was ok by me, if thats what the job entails ?? , as for being suspended , lets know the full reasons why, let the general manager explain fully in the main mag , or online ? and lets judge ourselves ? (after all we own the rpra ? don't we ?) , if karen is innocent of whatever ? then she has my 100 % backing, as i suspected the commitee members seem to be social meeters rather than do'ers !! cheers boys !!!, -
our club works in mysterious ways jason, when it was pointed out that the last show clashed with the fed prizegiving, nothing was changed !!!!i was gobsmacked
-
from my past experience , i am not sending to win cards , but my live in lover !!!!(her indoors) is new to the game this year, and her white one (topaz) !! maybe a world beater !!! lol. hope the judge is watching and remembers its name !!! lol

, our club shows are about to start on the 14th of november, as much as i would love to support our club, i am , unsure about as to wether i should disturb the birds on these dark , dank , nights (restarted this year , so they are all 2008 pigeons) as you can imagine , most are darkness pigeons, with flights to throw, and the odd later one has only been trained lightly,
-
forgot to say , if you catch it , clasp both thumbs around its wings with your hands / fingers around the body ,
-
hi, just thought i would add that the best time to catch "pie" for the ring number is after the pigeon has roosted for the night, if it is safely accesible, and dark enough for the pigeon not to fly off, the ring will read something like :- GB 2008 (letter) and numbers, or SU, or whu, ihu, etcif its possible to get the registration number , then i am sure the owner will be traceable, although it sounds like "pies " quite happy there, dave

restarted after a 6 year break with 22 gift young birds. (16 from cloudview thanks stuart) lost 1 ranging (presumed wired as another came back cut up), 1 to young bird sickness, 1 training at 30 miles (which returned 5 week later with the biggest healed up chest gash i have ever seen), 3 at the 1st race, 1 at 155 miles, and 2 at picauville smash 260+ miles. 15 flown 5 and 6 races to fly as yearlings a further 2 later gift birds had just 2 x 25 mile training chucks

whats all this about stock birds ?? in the not so long past , best racer paired to best racer bred our future stock , with the odd pair of non flying out pigeon , . one scenario that needs changing is the idea to novices that stock pigeons are the bee all and end all ! my m8 opposite has about 200 pigeons !! about 30 pair which are stock , young birds mainly not raced because they are from >> blah , blah , blah !!! result being when something does well and i ask whats it from ? it seems to be off something that has raced . am i making sence ?
-
gangster. you may , or may not ? know 18 of my 24Y.B's when i restarted were from stuart (cloudview) this year. i lost one ranging (another returned wired , so i suspect this went the same way that day, one on its 2nd training chuck at 30 mile (she returned 5 week later with the biggest healed up gash you could ever imagine) racing >> has to look in the book >> lost 1, rest here to fly next year, plus 2 later breds that have had 2 chucks from 22 miles, nice medium sized distance birds that hopefully will do the same for me as cloudview, as yearlings this lot will go all the way to 500 mile !! for me

I wanna tell you a story !!! i once bought 6 motta van hee's ,yb's from louella just after they introduced the £99 for 6 to race. the pigeons arrived, and my heart sank !! . all six were full of lice. as you can imagine i was put off straight away, at the end of that young bird season. treated and raced alongside my own , none were left, from that day i have been very wary buying pigeons from unflown stock, generation after generation , i am not knocking louella as i think they do a great job in making champion bloodlines available to the working man , but , my thoughts are after a few years of inbreeding to the champions, it takes a few generations to get the "winning ability " back into the strain . the amount sold has to throw up a certain amount of winners ? , but it would be a low percentage i think ? dave

i am a big believer that for racing , it helps if they have 2 eyes !!! for breeding take the pigeons shape, conformation, "winning genes"and try to re - produce what you would like yourself, best to best is a good theory !!

he he !!! i remember a nice old chap (eddie from pudsey , leeds. in the seventys using homoform, . he fetched his birds on basketing night and the droppings were red !!! he was using it as a main feed !!! i love the product, and my father did before me, a pinch per bird is enough ? anytime of the year .

i broke no pots !! but my 1st season back flying young birds, i came within 2 minutes of the winner at a club sending 360 plus, and ended up with 20 out of 25 i started with , distance blood from cloudview, i can forsee a happy future.
