Your right redandyellow.Gareth stays just slightly east of St.Abbs Head ;D ;D

Hi Bart, providing the birds held their line, they would fly approx 20 miles from Ypres to the coast and then have approx 80 miles of water, hitting the British mainland at Ipswich. Then they have another 355 miles to Glasgow. Cheers Derek
-
ridiculous that I only get 15 miles from you.Your nearly in England
-
youve measured to a bloke in a boat a mile off shore.I was right 80 miles.lol
-
Gareth was right. 80 miles of water hitting the mainland just above Ipswich.Distance to Kirkintilloch, Glasgow is 455 mls
-
did you check that on Google Earth Gareth
-
I reckon about 120 -130 miles

look for birds similar to your Tarbes cock and your Pau hen.

President of the S.H.U . A post that clearly needs someone with a bit of intellect.I definately thought John Barlow fitted the bill but obviously he didnt please everyone.I dont know the politics behind all this but I do know Ian Noble has got his work cut out to fill Johns shoes.

Look for a calm temperament as well as an intelligent head. All good distance birds have good balance with plenty of feather covering underneath. Some like a longish tail and wings, which help keep them up in the air for long periods

I attended John Hunters entire clearance sale yesterday at Newmains and the star of the sale for me was a mealy cock.Although he was a 96 bird , he was fully fertile and looked a picture. There were a few offspring in the sale from him so he was doing something right. This cock was sold for £34.Now you may think that is ok but when you see that he had scored 3rd and 8th west section, 31st and 80th open Rennes with the SNFC, that puts a different price tag on the doo altogether.I dont know of any other bird to have scored twice in the top 10 of the section from the Gold cup and still be alive. The mealy cocks brother was in the sale also.He was put to stock after scoring high up from SNFC Sartilly 500 mls as a yearling.Another cracker priced £24. UNBELIEVABLE

All my yearlings go to the coast if possible.I only send yearlings or 2yr old latebreds to these races as my national candidates are usually stopped at 260 mls before the big event.I won 1st open West Coast Combine Sartilly 510mls with a yearling flying 15 and a half hours on the wing into a north wind. They are well capable if bred and prepared right.

The only concern about 2 marking stations is SECURITY and we all know the importance of that .SAY NO MORE
-
I dont disagree with this plan, if it gets us more people going to the race.
-
Homer, when did Newmains become a SNFC marking station???

Is the Moleveld distance birds scoring in British distance races at present
-
Hi Stuart, Is the Moleveld Distance strain scoring in British distance races at present

Most people fall into the trap of buying birds from guys who are winning nationals etc flying into favourable positions, well they may be good enough pigeon fliers but there are equally as good in all parts of the country. How many times have we said the best bird in the race was in say 25th position, maybe flying further against the wind. There are good distance birds everywhere.I would suggest you go to the best distance man in your area and purchase eggs or latebreds from him.Take a note of how he flies his birds eg widowhood, natural, roundabout etc and his feeding and training methods.

John Hunter bought the very best 500 mile birds from alot of the top National men in Scotland in the early 90s.I know this because he told me when he came to my place to purchase 3 grand children of Fortune Lady .He is a true gentleman and I am sure there will be a lot of beauties at his sale.In the late 90s,early 2000s, he was a formidable force in the west section of the SNFC.

cheers m8

How much to join Bart

Cant agree with you more Andy.I am totally disillusioned with the SNFC.This man should distance himself from anything that could add to the speculation that surrounds him.As my mate says, a fox looking after the hen hut.Can anyone remember Scott Gibson failing to supply the PRO with info regarding his winners.I can, then, ironically he ends up with the job.Whats the committee thinking about. In fact, I think the SNFC owes alot to Joe Muurphy for his writings in the last few years, especially with the politics going on in the sport at present.

The best products are the natural, inexpensive ones.ie vinegar ( apple cider ) sugar ( honey or molasses ) and salt ( for re hydration ). These all cost in total ,about a fiver. We all know that everyone thinks there is a magic potion for the birds, but there isnt. You cannot beat natural health ( form ) in a loft.

You are spot on m8, the welfare of the pigeon should be paramount but it obviously isnt in many federations today.
