    yearlings

I was 1st Open Scottish West Coast Combine Sartilly 510 mls, into a head wind, flying 15 and half hours on wing,( only 4 on night ) with a yearling cock that wasnt raced as yb. I had to send him because of his condition as I believe you must strike when the iron is hot Incidentally, he was my main pooler in the race ( winning a very tidy sum ) even though he was a yearling and I had more experienced birds away .

  10. A selected bunch of fanciers nominate a pigeon to compete in the SNFC Gold Cup race. Everything is published in the BHW how these pigeons are prepared etc in the lead up to the race. The first pigeon on the SNFC Gold cup result is the winner of the JOE MURPHY CHALLENGE.
  11. Yes he stood his round ;D In fact, he did not live up to the miserable reputation yous guys have got up there ;D.Me and the big fella were propping up the bar at 3am
  12. Attended the Joe Murphy Challenge presentation last night and I think the wee man has to be applauded for the work he puts into running this . It was a brilliant night , meal was great, company great and the drink went on till early hours . Rough as .... this morning ;D
  13. Go to your nearest SHU club and the Pres. & Sec. will sign the form for you. I dont see a problem but if you get any hassle, report them to SHU.Mind ye, dont know if they will do anything :-/
  14. Andy, its hard enough running things without trying to cater for everyones working hours. If we did that we wouldnt have any national races.Remember, the boys in the north start marking there birds around midday on some occasions. What about folk on backshift etc, we just have to make arrangements to suit the marking times. The other problem we have got is marking a day later in order to have one day less in the basket. Although, I personally am in favour of this, it doesnt suit the SNFC logisticly, because there are too many marking stations and too many deadlines to make. This may suit other organisations with only a couple of marking stations to pick up but the SNFC really struggle with it. jmo
  15. Very interesting point made here
  16. Not having a laugh Chris, I put this programme on p.b so people can discuss it well before AGM. Then they can come to AGM and change to whatever suits. This programme was put up by the SNFC committee after several votes. You know as well as me, the AGM decides everything but if people dont turn up then the SNFC recommendations stand. :-/
  17. Get to the AGM and say so
  18. Andy, as this is only a recommendation the dates etc can and will be shuffled at the AGM , no doubt. The reason for the 17th July being used was so you could double pigeons back from earlier races, giving them plenty of rest etc in between. I agree with you, it is another hard programme to complete and you do need a few birds about you But, this can all be changed at AGM if the members wish
  19. Ware is about 330 miles to me, Eastbourne 402, both on east side
  20. Here is the proposed 2010 SNFC race programme. 5.6.10 - Ware, 19.6.10 - Eastbourne, 25.6.10 - Reims, 3.7.10 - Andrezel, 10.7.10 - Ypres, 17.7.10 - Claremont, These dates may vary slightly

  24. Well done Clocky, what a 40th birthday present that must have been ;D
  25. My point is nothing to do with who had the better bird, it was to emphasise how inaccurate toulet clocks are at times. Move with the times Roland
