Good post Peter. Nobody is ever having a go at the convoyers, we only are debating whats best for our pigeons. Two 7 tonners could've taken the birds down instead of using Johns own artic and another transporter. Different rules for an artic but if 2 drivers on it ( which there should be )then no probs and the birds would've and could've been up on Friday. So what you've got is the hire of Johns lorry for 4 days minimum instead of 2 as well as expenses and convoyers wages. A pretty big bill that could've been easily halved. Still, not having a go, business is business and if I was John, Id do exactly the same but I disagree with all the posts that said it is a THANKLESS JOB, its well paid imo.The weather is still dodgy for tomorrow but slight chance early imo.

Stevie, theres always the unexplainable but all im saying is that we should only do the very best for the doos,and nothing else. Benefit the pigeons and not anyone else!!!

Stevie, I didn't lose a pigeon last weekend .Total truth, racing obs only on the east, no losses over 3 races, 161 mls, 191 mls, 238 mls,, Also,racing yearlings, latebreds and 2 yr old latebreds on the west ive only lost latebreds or pigeons not flown 100 miles as ybs. Uttoxeter , now up to 35/36, Middleton 41/43 , I don't bull sh it on these facts m8, not like a lot of folk that's why ive 15 at first nat ,one that I don't usually send yearlings to.

I agree Frank but there are two sides to it and if we do the best for the birds then that's got to pay dividends. When you take your birds a toss how long do you let them rest before you liberate? I reckon, 20-30 min for every 2 hours travelled is sufficient. A wee bit of research is needed here to give convoyers a guide line.
