At the moment i'm letting my young birds do as they please, they're doing the occaisional lap of street put mainley sunning themselves on my roof, they've only been out 3/4 days so didn't think flagging or owt would be a good idea plus they're so young. With my rollers i've always flagged & they catch on quick but didn't want to do the same with these & assume once they get stronger on wing they'll start putting the miles in. They're getting all the can eat & a semi open loft... Am i doing the right thing? what would you do???

Here they are! Obviously the shed's a work in progress, lots of plans for it, cheers for young birds madmaxlofts they're crackers! -
I've got my loft (shed) liveable for my new young uns & pick them up saturday from the dome! The shed isn't ideal but they all have a perch & it's clean, airey & dry but a work in progress. I'll get some pics put up once they're settled. Thanks to everyone who's helped get me started.

So they don't get to see em after race? Where's the motivation to get home? Is it just love of the loft?

Is this system exactly as it sounds? sexes never seeing each other? are the pigeons motivated just by their box? Does anyone use this system & win? Not thinking of using it just interested, thanks in advance! y.i.s chubs.

I've got 2 out of a possile 3pr's paired now, the one left to pair is the most nervous hen which i think has had an affect.

thanks, bang it on this thread when you find out then pal, not saying i'm gonna do it but it's deffo something that interests me a lot, like the idea of having the stats recorded & something i'm guessing that would be a real bonus would be knowing the stats on each pigeon when you've done training tosses, must be a real help sorting where the best lie.

I'm a new starter mate so as for strain i really don't know, the cock i want to pair it to is a 07 freddy vandenaheede bred bird so an older hen that could help the little virgin would be great!
-
Say your club does allow it , how much is it to get set up with ets? sorry if we're going over old ground but having to work some saturdays this is something that could really help me.

Don't seem to be getting much in way of response & wondered if people just don't look at wanted section? I'm looking for a old bird hen, I've got a spare cock that i'd really like to get paired, I want to pick up something as close as poss to doncaster but don't mind travelling say up to an hour, Don't want to be spending too much but don't expect a freebe either. Thanks everyone, y.i.s james.

I've flown birds of prey & kept pigeons for years, peoples comments on this thread before they were deleted were a bit stupid on an open forum to say the least. A lot of the facts & figures are way out & very misinformed, such as how much a spar can consume in a day, i know this as i've owned & flown three, i've also flown 2 peregrine hybrids & believe me pigeons are way down on the list of prey! they are extremely hard for a bird of prey to catch & these being wild birds that conserve energy as matter of survival will always go or easy option. I also believe that birds of prey especially the spar has reached saturation point, i'm not against culling them or poss trapping & moving on problem birds but try & get that allowed by rspca etc. yours in sport james.
