    WEATHER

been a crack'n day down here as well, forecast is same thro to thursday here ( we shall see).....tammy's picked a good weekend to pair up anyway, hope it's gone well
  8. yes they can,but in a show bird they are not looking for muscle ( as in a racing brd in racing condition ) ....there is a marked difference when handling any of the flying breeds ...performing /competition & show type as in racers & show racers the show type are " fuller " bodied
  9. with some birds yes if they are what is termed lacking in body ....but obviously a judge who knows what he;s looking for can tell right away..... also they tend to hold their " show condition " longer if carrying "body"........
  10. can confirm that ,was well respected on the show scene for quality /condition his birds ,seen them fair few times at both o.c . & b/pool
  11. yes it is duncan,to put what they call body on them which most judges prefer...( particulary in case show racers )...you're quite right does when handling give impression of a bigger bird .....
  12. nah...more a - suppastar -- :D
  13. could'nt agree more liz...you can probably put most of the breeding problems associated with show birds down to excess weight ....despite ,breaking them down as soon as shows end ,in an attempt to get them into breeding condition .. also probly cause of premature fertility problems as well.......... never expereinced it when racing ............ bearing in mind that the majority of show birds never fly out & therfore can't burn it off ,( some dont even have access to aviary )
  14. not wrong there ,thats why i chose him,the likes of which don't come along very often .....

  17. very good ,need a good cheq cock to go with that.....or someone with an exeptional mosiac !!
  18. how many are you getting liz !! ;D ;D ;D ;D
  19. cod liver oil & brewers yeast ,when breeding change to wheatgerm oil... garlic cloves in water .........used them for over 30yrs & no complaints ,see no reason to line someones pocket with these so called wonder additives ........... nature provides most of it anyway ...........
  20. hormoform for me to....duramitex & ivamectin also .....
  21. parkhall lofts do a design which incorporates mechanical louvres in place of dowelled or polycarb glazed front ,which allows max air flow in ,but rain etc out, i am ordering such a 1, from them ,along with wood louvres on front at floor level , recommended that air flow comes in at floor level & forces stale air out thro roof level ( usually via rear or by roof vents )
  22. can recommend the book " pigeons for everyone",by doug Mclary, that has a chapter dedicated to colour breeding & genetic colour inheritance, but mainly concentrates on colour variations in show racers ,if it's fancy pigeons you refer to have to refer to books concerning them or monthly magazine ( feathered world ) which occasionaly covers that for various breeds .........
  23. big mistake sorry to say disturbing birds on eggs ,the only way now is to try & foster eggs under another pair or two as chickadee states ...... depending on how long they have not been sat ,will determine if embryo still alive, if a couple /few hours may be lucky if you foster them NOW,they may feel cold ,but still may be ok ..... think you've learnt a valuable lesson the hard way ..........
