  4. Hi I have just been speaking to Mr Dawes of Firs loft. He stated that he had put an advert in the BHW over the last couple of weeks. I would like to see the advert but my yearly subscription has just ran out and i haven't got that copy. I was wondering if i could be cheeky and ask if someone has it would they mind scanning it and sending it to spencroftlofts@hotmail.co.uk or sending it to me in the post and i would send you the money for postage, if sending it to me i will message you my address. Kind regards Kevin
  5. Is there a list of couriers on this site somewhere i am looking at sending four young birds from wisbech in cambridgeshire to portsmouth. Cheers Kev
  6. I have just been up to Mr G Dawes to buy a nice batch of kirkpatricks. Mr Dawes was using a sex indicator to sex these young birds. It looked like a bit of metal on a bit of string. When i asked him if it really worked he put it to some of his cock birds and it went one way and the same to his hens and it moved in a different way. How does it work and does anyone know where i can buy one cheers kev
  7. When you are feeding stock birds that are rearing young do you keep the food down all the time or do you feed a few times a day and then remove it. the reason being is that for some reason this year my birds have become really picky on what they eat and seem to through the seed that they dont want all over the floor. cheers kev
  8. Hi I went to pick up a stray pigeon for a friend today. I went down to the lofts of the bloke who had it and when i looked inside i see that all he fed was peas and maize. He then went on to say that he fed all his pigeons just this as it was all that he could get from the local farm. What do you think about this can pigeons live on just these two items. He feeds it to his stock, racing and young birds. Cheers Kev
  9. Hi I have sold a bird to a bloke in blackpool. He has sent me £30.00 for carriage does anyone know of a courier who will collect and deliver for that price. Thanks for your help Kevin

    Eggs On Ebay

Yes i did sell eggs on ebay. The reason being is that my dog, whilst out walking got hold of some rat poison so need an emergency blood transfusion. This was done on a weekend and out of hours so the vets bill was huge. I only sold eggs like this as i needed money to help pay for my vets bill. I dont plan on doing it again, but some people had a great deal as i have seen birds being sold on the louella site for £55.00 each and mine are the same as them some even being a generation nearer the champions. I was selling my Kirkpatrick at £20.00 each a couple of years ago, but as the price of everything has gone though the roof i decided to re price them as they were getting harder to sell and i would rather sell my surplus birds than have to keep them until they are older. I dont know if i have read the above wrong but i have never sold logans for £25.00. I do belive that i have some of the best pedigree kirkpatrick left anywhere on the planet now lol and if anyone is interested one of my yellow cheq kirkpatricks was entered in the RPRA one loft race 2009 where she flew hot spot races and was timed in, in the big final race. Good luck to you all this season All the best Kevin www.spencroftlofts.co.uk
