  1. Well Les, i got my first chuck in today and theyve come just lovely, its the best weather weve had. First chuck ten miles, and i must agree that some fanciers start training too early. Ive sent them to the first race on many years and won them, i think if they are excersised well round home, and looked after, you only need to get a couple of chucks into them, to dust away the cobwebs as to speak. last year my old birds had 4 chucks before the first race, which i was 2nd, and then went on to win the next three. Training is about picking your right time with the weather, unfortunately when your working thats hard to do. still think though that we all start far too early, why we dont wait till late April when the weathers just turning and longer days lord only knows. :( :(

  2. JSTOON, your a policman IF i understand right. and agreeing with someone to dispose or kill a cat is .. insitement to cause harm or cruelty to animals. which is what you are suppose to be against is it not?? and your suppose to be protecting us and upholding the law !!!

A cat can be given to some child as a christmas present and the distress you would cause this child by killing and disposing of their cat Uknowingly to them, what would you do if some one shot your pigeons for landing on their roof... its their roof they got a right to protect it and shitting on their washing?? well ?? if you or anyone class cats as vermin as someone has stated , then look again because the last time I looked mate ... pigeons were classed as vermin RATS WITH WINGS!!!  and I dont care if the queen keeps pigeons , when was the last time you saw her in her loft or with a scrapper.. she has an obligation to keep them due to a previous monarch being given some as a gift. so IF you want to remain a police man act like one and stop talking out your a r s e.

Timbarra, you ought to be a Detective my son. ;D ;D

  3.

    ;D ;D ;D slow down a bit Dave1975,  :) :) :) have a good read here  :D :D :D & you should see ???? who I have in mind etc  :X :X :X & all I will say is !!!!!! I think we are pretty safe from the law here  ;D ;D ;D from what I've read.

    Enjoy

I work where Life On Mars is a reality :o :o :o, the good side of the law. Whod have thought Cat Trouble would cause such a COO. The law in Scotland Fiscal, has totally different powers and acts to ourselves, if the truth be known, theyve got it sorted. so it first hand at G8 ;D ;D

  4. if a cat gets in and kills my birds are the owners lible

Take it from an officer of the law who does know what hes talking about, and the answer is no, owners cannot be liable for their cats doing, only dogs, and that is when they attack humans and or dogs. its the same if you knock a cat down with your car(by accident of course before somebody gets on their high horse again), you dont have to report the matter and/or stop, only for dogs. Not bad for a LOOSER and WASTER,if im right in thinking its me who the comments were aimed at.

  5. go to    http://www.cat-repellant.info/index.html

this will give you all the methods to keep them away, and all legal.

Good on you mate, had a look at the site and seems good. i must admit 10 years ago i was given a very expensive repellant from a deceased fanciers wife, and i never did see a cat, however at this time i had a wild cat have kittens under the huts which was an absolute nightmare at the time, and took a long time to shift. You have to make sure that the antena covers all around the huts.

  6. 9 times out of 10 a cat will kill a pigeon but wont eat it they are predators and designed to do a certain thing, hunt !! I think giving advice to kill cats is so wrong so why give it, JSTOON you have your view but killing cats should not be an option , should it ? there are laws and without them anarchy rules !!

I am sure my view is shared by people whos dogs catch a cat in the garden .. the owner of the cat does not come round and shot the *expletive removed* dog does he ?

why because dogs chase cats ! millions of years of evolution made it so. same with cats, also other species . . man on the other hand seems to want to kill anything or anyone that does not want to comply with mans way .

I have my view and thats all it is my view. as everybody does.

First and fore most, if you read the thread in its entiraty, you will see that i never told the lad to KILL a cat, i was agreeing with another members comments, again my views.  I dont have a problem with cats, only when im trying to get them out of the jaws of my jack russells mouth, like me, they dont like them either. And i dont need telling about the law, i put a uniform on and keep the peace, as to speak.

One thing i would never do though is contemplate reporting other pigeon members for doing so to the RSPCA as youve pointed out!!

  7. THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD LOOK AT PACKING IN THEN MATE. NEARLY EVERY PIGEON MAN I KNOW SHARES THE SAME VIEW, AND NO PERSON HAS ACTUALLY SAID THEY KILLED A CAT.

MAYBE WITH YOUR BRAINS YOUD BE BETTER SUITED TO UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE, OR ANIMAL RESCUE, AND LET PIGEON MEN SPEAK FREELY, WITHOUT WORRY OF UPSETTING SOMEONE.

OR MAYBE YOUR JUST IN THAT SMALL MINORITY OF PEOPLE WHOS GOT NOWT BETTER TO DO.

REMEMBER WHAT THIS THREAD WAS FOR, ADVICE WITH CATS, AND THATS ALL THAT THE "PIGEON " MEN HAVE DONE.

SIMPLE, IF YOU DONT LIKE THE VIEWS THEN DONT READ IT :o

  8.

Being reported would not change my opinion one bit or my method of dealing with the problem.

My pigeons have the right to have a bath on there garden in peace without the risk of being caught by a predator and as such i will remove anything i feel can put them at risk.Be it a Cat, rat, Hawk,

Here Here, if you cant protect what youve got, then whats the point in trying. Cat proof, no such thing. First off all before you report someone for animal cruelty, then you have to have evidence at hand and even then the likelyhood of conviction is slim to nil, trust me i know.. Disagree with Timbarra totally, would he/she feel the same if tabby had just taken his best bird, i think not. If youve found a "cat proof" method, then lets here it, as we all live and learn. Its one thing keeping them out of the huts, very easy, but to stop them coming at all, think not. Obviously i didint attend your university.

  9.

:D :D :D You be careful of the law here now ??????, or ones next promotion  ;D ;D ;D could go out the door. So to speak ;) ;) ;).

    Enjoy.

That promotion went a long time ago :P :P :P. Anyway, its not an offence when it involves a cat, or at least thats what i tell everyone. You should see my local post office, bloody full of pictures of cats that have gone missing, shame about the reward ones though ;D ;D

  10. Soul destroying buddy, its not a rat though, it will either be a weasel, mink or pole cat. Rats tend to take small amount at a time. I know there illegal, but if you know anybody who has a gyn trap, thats the best mate. Ive youngsters that will be hatching in about two weeks time, let me no by pm if your still short.
