if u have a familly of pigeons in otherwards birds all related [well most anyway] what strain of pigeon or son or daughter off which pigeon would u try to get for sprint races to cross with your own familly

have said this lots before i put it down to the main reason for the loss of birds some reckon it can be spotted but i think it could be a secondary infection[loss for a better word] think it can be vacinatted againist

aint it a all year round hooby how with the moult racing rearing youngers training than trying to find that one bird that will give u the edge tought i had it in the phoebe auction but as the saying goes didint put all my eggs in the one basket

i travel a bit every week here u can be a individual member of the fed

no mate i fly in the fed every week no club racing though

not in a club but took top many top 10 postions in my fed with average of 1500 1600 birds often not another member within 15 mile of me in the results that was nice

there are a few hints i like to follow to trust the man is the main thing its all about info there is the mags Internet find out is he wining look at results and if others r winning too with his birds u will find most top racers are decent pll if u can find a top man in a small backyard so he doesn't have room to just throw birds to one side to breed youngers to sell the better when i restarted a few year ago i got birds from a real top winning strain in belgium could only afford a few pairs they were real pricey so to top up with birds i got a few off Louella they arrived in perfect condition and not only that they beat the living daylights out the birds i paid ed a fortune for and u would believe what the strain was if i told u so what i done was did my homework for a year and bought birds that were winning in a few different locations and these are up and coming new strain best decision i ever made as regards bad sellers u can get most info on the net now forums like this and id stay away from the small wheeler dealers types u know the kind i call them dell boys[only fools and horses] another thing that u will find is that pll will put results down to different birds in there loft lets say a owner bought birds for there names i.e what on the peds and these are not the birds they are winning with but they put the results to the birds with the big names so what i try to look for is small loft living in a bad location a man don't have to have loads of firsts to have top results look at location the most important thing and if he has a small loft he cant afford to keep what he thinks is a load of crap id also in most cases buy late breeds or younger's as the person that selling them don't know how good or bad they are as breeders but if he only keeps very few birds he must think something of the parents one more point in most cases when pll are constantly advertising there birds this can be a bad sign too have seen it even on this site i know bit off the point in some cases but i feel its a valid post as soon we are coming into crazy pigeon buying time so if a few newcomers read this i feel this will make them stop and think i hope

really and truly this must come to a end there are disasters every week in some part of the country and to be fair that real bad weather was not predicted and of a race of 300 mile in which i do think is a little far that my own opinion of course but i was watching weather forecast on the net and on tele and if the birds had of going they way that was expected yes they would have hit rain but not in the same amounts as the way the birds must of went there one other thing that a little off the point but sure here we go where i live was a major passing point for a certain federation up to about 5 years ago i would see 1000s of birds but now i see noting and i mean noting birds in same race point same winds same everything really i really cant understand it but has anyone else noticed this are birds taking a different line towards a few year back just a thought

u are right but id bet there is a clause in there somewhere in the small print some where i bet

surelly more money would be made for the kids by haveing the auction on one of the chat sites only a idea

i agree with tom all the way it was a very bad result for all involved only thing i would say is does this race have to be over 300 mile surelly 250 is enough

don't worry amar the lads here will help in any way and there might even be a member from your area here that will help u ask any question u like and we will all try to help maybe wait till u join a club and ask the clock setter what clocks the lads are using or which he prefers to set might be an idea

i just belive its everyone to there own and wo are we to judge other pll on what there hobbies are or there work in a lot of cases i think the problem is there is the nicest dinner in among that bunch of woodiies belive me there beatifull and yet pll will go to there suupermarket where chickens are kept in the worst possibe situation fed all sorts most the crap u wouldent feed to ure pigeons yet pll will buy these just a tought

Christ what next yes there are after been racers shot not in my company but as jimmy has said they fly in a complete different manner to a racing pigeon anyone with any shooting knowledge can tell the difference this a mans sport and livelihood were talking about here and if u think about it we send pigeons hundreds of miles away in hampers sometimes in hampers for 3 days or more at least when they are shot a pigeon its dead end of and if this cull didint happen think of the consequences over population which means disease overeating of crops which means the price of grain goes up again wonder who will call for a cull then and were not talking about about a specis that on the endangered list are we . yes there are racers shot u will find bad sportsman in every sport when u think about it we don't have to look too far but to call it barbaric is so wrong hunting pll help nature in so many many ways the list goes on and on another point is the antis have got rid of fox hunting and hare hunting shooting and fishing is next on there list where do they look then a pigeon that is put in a hamper for 3 days or more left off hundreds of miles away it might sound stupid but u wait and see

where have i stated or even been any way looking for a fight it is a discussion and surely that what the website about that we can bounce each others ideas off one another and each others opinions on different matters and i think its wrong that u state in your post that it was turning into a fight as it implies that i was looking for one in which would be untrue .

what do u mean by ure last comment yes there are extra prssure on the lib but in the last few years sice this race started it has been a total success this is the first bad year and jump all over this race this young bird year seems to be a total distaster for most pll all over

it was a bad decision yes but i was talking in general about this race and some of the comment that were wrote about previous winners and what the race can do for pigeons in general

yes the lib might have been wrong but what wrong with the marquee and pll drinking this is a day out for owners dont we need more days like this where fanicers can meet and this race has being going for a few year it could be just one bad call and with the losses that have been reported every week on this site how is this any way different

i didint read all the posts but some of posts on here and what they suggest are mad it is a great advetisement for pigeons this gets more attention and races like it in the press than any other part of our sport surelly that can only be a good thing and about the money so what if thers money to be won what wrong with that i think its a great test for a pigeon all racing to the one loft all getting the same feed and treatment no location prefence here winds dont make a difference as all flying to the one loft surelly this a true test of a pigeon where the small back yard fanicer can compete with the big boys
