Chrissy !!!!!!! If you pick one with the right temprement, it will be a terrific pet for you & your family etc, & you will get years of enjoyment from it, with a bit of luck. The poor old greyhound, is a very maligned animal, unfortunately in this day & age we live now. Enjoy.

Different language here ?????? But I presume ?????? (could be wrong) Potash is, what I call Charcoal etc, & if it is, it's very important in my view. When one has bird/birds which are a bit of colour etc, you can always drop a couple of pieces down there throat as an example, the size of a pea sort of thing, & it will help get rid of any toxins in there system, which may be causing problems etc. Now!!!!! I have an open fire, so I get mine cheap ;D ;D ;D & each year I collect it & then crush it up to a powder etc, then put a spoonful on their grain each week with some oil, so I know they are always getting some in there system at times, also you can have it your grit etc but I much prefer my way !!!!!. "Remember also" even today in some hospital's etc at times, when they have a bad case of poisoning & all the modern methods ????? that they have tried, have failed. They will try charcoal as a last resort, & many a time it works. as strange as it may seem. Enjoy.

At unit 10 as an example, in the big club in florida USA etc, it's quite normal to have the pads outside the loft to clock their birds, before the enter through the bobs etc. Exactly the same as it is in my area also. "Maybe not fair" ??????? & in the spirit of the sport, so to speak. But that's just the way it is, for many flyers in different areas. Enjoy.

Year in year out, at Fed & club level etc, with very little in return most of the time. Except for personal satisfaction so to speak. Slugmonkey !!!!!! & so they damm well should (pick up strays) I travelled by car 400+miles to pick up one of mine ;D ;D ;D once. Besides !!!!!! I was ring secretary for a while of a local federation etc & your mind would boggle in amazement, at the excuses that I heard & was given, many a time, when I reported their birds to them, to be picked up etc. Pack of dimwits ;D ;D ;D some of them. I soon fixed them all up ;) I used all my people skills :P at the time :D But it was hard with some of them etc. The real hard cases : : : "We just fined them", when they refused to pick up their strays, & as dumb as some of them were !!!!!!. They soon learnt right from wrong. Especially where the public was concerned. Enjoy.

Hogni !!!!!! If it was just one pigeon, one could say !!!!!! it could of had a plain old heart seizure etc. But most I think, would have to say it's a bit more serious than that ?????? I'm afraid, going on what you have mentioned. "Now" the first question I would ask your friend is !!!!!! Has he put anything out of the ordinary in there water, or on there feed etc, in the last week or so, or brought a new lot of grain in. Pigeon flyers do some very strange things at times ;D ;D ;D. Following on from that, & this I imagine is a bit of a problem for you etc, living where you do & being so isolated in your area, compared to most of us here. Somehow you have to find a vet etc experienced in pigeons. Highly unlikely I think, in your situation, so the next best option is to suss out an old pigeon flyer ;) someone who has been around a while & more than likely, has seen this before in your area. so with a bit of luck he may be able to come to gripes with your concerns etc for your friend. Now!!!!! If none of the above are of any help etc. the next best thing in my view ?????? is. Go to church & prey hard :P it could help. PS, A word of warning for you !!!!!!! Keep away from his loft of birds, until he sorts it all out. "If you don't", you may find, you transfer his problems that he is having, to your loft of birds, with your visit etc. Enjoy.

If I remember correctly now, it was a pigeon flyer called "Book Richardson" from America etc, who attacked this subject, along the same similar lines as yourself etc. Very thought provoking !!!!!! & I found his ideas/thought's very interesting to read, & more in tune with reality, one could say. Compared to some of our more local experts ?????? :D . Enjoy.

Tammy 1 !!!!! Seeing as you don't believe me ?????? now. Remember what I exactly said above etc ;) . Because, I will tell you a little story here, just to show, how far I'm removed from modern day medication etc. Once upon a time, their lived a pigeon fancier 50+ yrs ago, he had the odd pigeon or 2 & had the odd loft also, in his little back yard ;D ;D ;D He had no time for eye sign as such & he couldn't be bothered cleaning out his lofts etc to much to any great extent (A recipe for disaster, many would think here) & he was not prepared to spend big money on vet's & all the modern day medication's of his day etc. He was a very smart man in his own rite, at least I think he was. He also happened to write the odd book or 2 to, no cd's but we won't worry to much about that etc. Because of his nature & a few other reasons he studied & experimented with many different goodies : : : as such, & found a few, which fitted into his way of thinking, so to speak. "Now"As strange as it may seem ;) even today, my medicine cabinet ?????? is much the same as his was at the time, along with 1 or 2 other items etc. Now !!!!! the following are what he used, if & when reqired (Much the same as myself). 1 Gentian extract (GV crystals, Terrific in wet weather). 2 Bicarbonate of soda (It's worth its weight in gold). 3 Potassium Permanganate (Condies crystals) We all know that one. 4 Hydrochloric acid (Spirits of salts) great stuff !!!!! I know all about it (Ex plumber). 5 Bleach (He used a much stronger mix, than is recommended today). "Now" Just to show how up to date I'm, he's a couple of mine etc. 1 Lemons (I've got a tree in my back yard etc, everyone should have one). 2 Charcoal (Car'nt get much cheaper than that). 3 Garlic ($1 a jar at the supermarket). 4 Copper Sulphate 5 Vinegar (Fish & chips) None of that fancy stuff for me. So there you have it basically !!!!! Not very exciting is it ;D ;D ;D if you spent $30 you would get change & have enough to treat the average loft for a year etc, easy & not much there that the vet's etc could make much money out of etc, don't you think ????. "Finally" I nearly forgot to tell you :D the man's name, who I thought was pretty smart in his day ??????? It was "Wendall Levi" : : :. Enjoy.

I find it quite amazing etc, the friction & anger at times here & on other local sites, (Quite Sad) in regard to Electronic Clocks. I just don't understand why it is this way. I race in a club/fed where we have both the old way & the new EC system in place & it just doesn't cause this friction at all. In fact !!!!!! to be quite honest with you, they show at times, how certain pigeon flyers etc, stretch the truth somewhat ;D ;D ;D when you read their print outs ;) . Of course !!!!! we only have 1 bird clocking in most races Which has never been a problem in my area, for most of us. Except if your a "Disgruntled Pom" who has voiced his opinion recently ;D ;D ;D on a couple of other local sites we all know ?????? : : :. When one brings it right down to the nitty critty type of thing ?????, you are talking about 1 or 2 maybe 3 seconds etc difference between the different clocking systems, & for most of us most of the time ;D ;D ;D know, it's someone else, worrying about those few seconds etc on race day ;) . Pigeon racing has never had a level playing field so to speak, so forget about all this animosty & get on & just race your birds & enjoy them. For what the are, "Little treasures" at least while they are on the perch. Enjoy

It will never get to hot in your area etc, ;D ;D ;D "Trust me" I know what I'm talking about ;) & the sun, is one of the cheapest medicines, you can give to your birds etc & it's free : : : if your lucky enough to have any. Enjoy.

Chrissy !!!!! I would never want to upset you :K) :K) :K) or any other of the female brigade ;) (I'm not that Dum) here !!!!! (Bugger the men) :P "But" give me a list of any desease/problem you can think off etc, I don' mind what it is, I can tell you !!!!! hand on the bible situation I have not been to a vet or pigeon supply house etc in 8 or 9 years now, to get some of the "Goodies" ;D ;D ;D that so many are keen on. I don't even annoculate for pigeon pox here, & 90% of the flyers do, because they think it's a must do situation, "Not me", & I still fly a very competive pigeon (I'm not a champion as such) on my day. Especially at the distance, 500/600miles & they are all babies, in relative terms. Compared to most of you here. Enjoy.

If you do, a bit of friendly advise etc, which could help you ????. Try & get some old steel bed frames 6ft x 3ft sort of thing, they make a terrific base for this sort of thing. I have them on all my lofts etc & the roofs are 4ft x4ft commerical clear windows on the top etc (Junk yard) thou I got mine through work etc "Free" ;D ;D ;D & the birds just love lying in the sun sunbathing all day most of the time.
