This thread thread after reading gives impression that con men are rampant on this site ripping off potential buyers, surely this cannot be true, just how many bad experiences has there been say in the last twelve months,in commerce in all walks of life the maxim BUYER BEWARE must always apply you cannot be ageist with this it applies to all potential buyers, regardless of age or sex, legislation of any kind wont prevent it from happening, often the conman is a chamelon and will adapt his format to suit and dupe whatever is in vouge at that time, sadly its life, imperfect,I know just look around you,the onus is on both parties in any transaction do your own homework, make sure you receive what you pay for, half up front half on delv,or whatever is required there are many ways to stop you becoming another catch, its an imperfect world, but the responsibility must surely be left with the people involved in the transaction that its suitable to both parties,if in doubt for any reason then ask for advice from more senior fanciers.

Impressive, birs appear contented regardless of camera, sand in boxs appears a good idea all the best for forthcoming season

Yes they should be name and shamed, anything else for whatever reason given is just a cop out and will only boost cheating, this has created a scenario of Cheats voting for cheats birds, with innocent members not allowed to vote.
-
I have many times asked myself this question, especially when things regarding the birds go against you, they are a major part of my life having been involved with them for over 50 years, and there is something new to be learned on a daily basis, almost like reading a good book you never want it to end.
-
Am I right to assume that the cheats birds are still being listed, and being voted on,instead of a deterrent, this is only encouragement to these people, their birds should be out as well as themselves.
-
I also belieive these cheats should be named and shamed, and certainly agree with the David L outlook on this

To charge a set fee would be a non starter,Fancier A advertises 40 pigeons Fancier B advertises 4 pigeons yet both would be liable for the set fee,a more workable alternative might be a nominal fee of 50p or £1 per bird advertised with this revenue paid direct to Pigeon Basics for services rendered.

Again what defines a true Champion in this instance ,if its red cards if the criteria is solely Red Cards/how many/Clubs some clubs might have birdage of 500 with 50 members with a big radius, another with 50 birds and 5 members and a radius around a lamp post, yet both birds are winners, but yet much easier to attain red cards in one,so this creates an imbalance to solely judge on Ists. The bird that does it in a higher class Feds/Combines/Nationals/again with good results at this level would be a better class of Champion than a club Champion, yet both can be labeled Champions, rightly so,but in my estimation a true Champion is a bird that does the business at a higher level, when put to stock its progeny is capable of producing as good or better results for many years, now how many Champions are about with these qualities, just for a bit of fun if interested why not name your definition of what bird is a real Champion and its ability concerning above. A bird that has done it at the highest level and its direct progeny is doing likewise or better say 10 years later, now this is a real Champion

Many years ago Mr C.G.Pearce of Wotton U Edge Glos suggested this system, this was at a time when it was difficult and costly to import pigeons, and always a good rate of hatchings when sent this way, sadly none ever hatched when freshly laid eggs were used,I might add that some went on to be quite good birds, Dorbars he called them these were a first cross between Dordins and the old Barkers, the bloodlines of these birds 30 years later are still with my present birds some what diluted of course, C.G was a brilliant fancier who even when he had finished with pigeons due to his great age,I kept in touch with until he died some years ago,I wonder if any older fanciers on here might remember him.

Eggs through mail, try sending them when they are between 10 and 14 days old as embryo at this stage in most instances will withstand buffeting they receive if packed properly in cotton wool, recently laid eggs become addled with buffeting in mail, and are very unlikely to hatch, many years ago had many successful hatchings with this system. I would like to say thanks to Albear for quality of birds purchased on his Auction and for delivering those birds for me at no extra cost, its been a pleasure to deal with such an honest and decent fancier,.

Having been a buyer of some pigeons in the two most recent Auctions on P/B I wish to state that I am totally satisfied with my purchases, and quite pleased how the vendor conducted himself, saving me paying Amtrak by delivering birds I bought from himself, nice one Alan, and I have not seen one note of dispute or alarm from any of the other buyers, where is all this (mistrust) thats being bandied about, being aware of an old saying "one swallow doesnt make a summer," this also works both ways,I wish to personally say thanks to the vendor for his honest, and open answers to my queries, and for his courtesy in delivering those birds.

Very nice Gesture Albear Bid of £25

There is a good deal of common sense in whats stated previous, but at the end of the day, their will always be fanciers selling on pigeons for very many reasons,if you have got sellers, you have got buyers again for many reasons, this is basic simplicity, the buyer should always be aware of the adage(,Buyer Beware,)and to this end the buyer must do his homework regarding sale birds, making sure he is full satisfied, then and only then should he purchase, and only time will tell and in most instances, Professor basket if purchase has been successful. There is an Auction of birds on at the moment I have made some queries re same, to seller via P.Ms I am more than satisfied with honest and direct answers received,no sales pitch whatsoever from seller, just what I believe to be total honesty and so I am still interested, the only reason I wont have these birds is if some other person is prepared to pay more ,if so I will wish that person all the best with the birds,I cant for the life of me see any problem with this, the problems only begin when ANY third party with what appears to be no apparent interest in buying, attempts to besmirch or belittle the seller or birds for sale in public view, for whatever reasons which has nothing to do with Auction/Buyers this I find very distasteful and indeed insulting to the intelligence of people interested in these birds, and possibly most members using this forum, there will always be likes/dislikes of certain birds and fanciers again for many and varied reasons, always has been, this is the very nature of the beast, but for petty squabbles and verbal rubbish , this is benificial to no party at the moment especially in public,so why not confine it to P.M only

Is Copper Sulphate safe in bath water at the rate of 1/2 tea spoon to two gallons of water, its very good at keeping lice/and quill lice off birds, but could/would it have any effect when taken as birds when bathing tend on occassions to drink. Merlin

As one of the people involved in bidding for some birds now on this site for Auction by Albear.to say I was pretty baffled when reading Timbarras comments regarding one of those birds, now after viewing past links, the words of very good fancier friend of mine , now sadly no longer among us( When buying birds its the pedigree of the man you want ) he told me, in this instance how true this is,and so with this in mind I now increase my bid to £45 for above bird. £45
