Its sheer and utter mindless cruelty,by a low life, that no animal would be capable of doing, and sad part is as above what chriss has posted, regarding(punishment)
-
Without being carved in stone the above is pretty accurate, with exceptions in some cases,ie a youngster being worked hard, slower,a youngster not working at all quicker.
-
Again well done Slug,it appears your a good tradesman with class tools for the job.a formidable combination.
-
Sometimes its actually detrimental to train Old birds,if they have race experience, mine are worked at home, when this is done properly they get one "wake up" toss at 18 mile then first race at 81 mile, normally no problems, youngsters totally different ball game. Just my opinion.
-
Try them on organic vegtable juice twice per week, old and young birds, with grape fruit and honey after race, never tried plain orange juice, wont do any harm ,excepting its got additives. Just my opinin
-
Irsih Homing Union have increased the diamater of rings this seson 08,for removing rings which I have done in the past a bull nose snips,as used by electricians is the most adequate I find. Just my opinion
-
Quarries, big and small, Rock faces,Castles, any tall decrepit old buildings, they are not usually to be found nesting in exposed trees as such, but who is to say they dont now, with the amount about, nesting and increasing this problem
-
Well done to all concerned,on their achivements and efforts especially the organizers, which benifits such a worty cause.

I am sorry to hear about your losses Bob,I seldom have such bad luck with youngsters, and hope it continues,my system is when weaned, birds acclimitise for roughly two weeks in and out, till they start to fly, when they are starting to fly strong, still in vicinity of loft, they are then confined till late evenings only, when they will do most things they would do when given all day liberty, idea being if perchance they roam too far, picked up by trainers, etc, come morning they might not be too far from home loft, and capable of returning, dont know if you do it but to give youngsters unlimited freedom, without being educated is a recipe for trouble of many kinds, just my way,and hope there is something that may be of use to you.

Based on what I can only be described as an educated guess,up to-day the Jansenn lines are responsibile for more (Families) of pigeons than Bussacherrts are.this is in no small part due to selective breeding and structure, and retention of gene pool as practiced by Jansenn Bros initially, whereas Bussacherrts were based on performances only, and consequently havent stood the test of time like Jansenn blood.
-
I haav eread that certain type of nest felts are alleged to be responsibile for these deaths, in day and two day old youngsters this season especially, black nest felts I think with other nest felts brown ones fine, sometimes in same lofts, you might check this out more thoroughly if you are using black nest felts .
-
Well done I.B on finding and publishing this very useful information,no problem substaniating same,my view being based on actual happenings by a pair of resident Eagle Owls, now if only we might get our act to gether and formulate a common plan among pigeon fanciers, this is where the real kernel of the B.O.P. soloution problem lies
-
Again this one has to be down to individual, regarding lots of things, especially room in lofts,if I have got both l/b and room, they are a two year job, trained with old birds again with youngsters, maybe just maybe sent to one or two short races, but in the main they are as yet undeveloped, both mentally and physically, and if they are worth breeding, they should have the time to become the complete package, again only my opinion
-
Take a bow Paulo, and long may it continue

Agree with you Aldo without basic good health rest is unlikely, also with Rembrandt,a motivated hen at any distance,is unbeatable, some need motivating, others( good ones) motivate themselves, and are unstoppable, good motivated widowhood cocks likewise, stand in their entrance on race day, they will cut the face off you,but again health is the basic prioriiy, otherwise there is non or little condition, good question Just read Jimmys above who has described it to a tee,Duncan Show condition and Race condition are very different. Just my opinion
-
Here we have a lot of snow this morning, picture post card scene, and still falling, last week it was very good weather mostly sunny mild weather, this weather is non seasonal.
-
Well done Slugmonkey,2,402 y.p.m they were really cracking on, well done again.
-
Like your nesting material Blyth 1 is it Oaten Straw. Birds also looking good.
-
But then again if we were to race in an Easterly direction say from Brussells area,we would in all probability North and South be flying somewhat similar distances,we live in hope
-
Condition is brouht about in many ways its when the bird is at the peak of its abilities, which will last for two to five weeks in general, proper housing, proper training, proper feeding, and proper all round management, now you introduce the proper motivation to suit bird, with these requirements,it will show you what condition is. Just my opinion.
-
R.C.H Well done whatever you are doing with birds keep doing it,and I hope next win comes soon for you.
-
Karl they are fantastic looking youngsters,if they race as well as they look, you have got it made, hope they go well for you.
-
This is a terrible act by a sicko, and shattering for yourself, dont let the B*****D win, keep going, lets hope he/they are caught and soon

I feed barley 365 days of the year, different ratio at different times, after moulting, they are on 100% barley for a period, have found it be a very important and essential feed and beleive more fanciers would use if they had faith in their judgement.

Forecast none too pleasent for to morrow, cold Northerlies, with showers, not goo for racing, the old saying should apply"If in doubt leave them out" but good luck to anyone who are racing, its such a short season really.
