  1. thanks i will mention it at the next meeting ,if anyone has any information on how to go about getting this grant it would be great
  2. i dont think they will give our club it ,we got a grant a few years ago from the coal board to buy clocks for members who where using the old toulet clock :-/
  3. some old members of my club who cannot afford to buy ets ,never mind the rings at £1.30 each :-/
  4. well i myself dont lose many young birds or old birds ,but some fellow club members lose more then i have every year, still i dont race young birds but i will be this coming season.some club members where cleaned out this last season with losses even with old birds some good winning pigeons lost .
  5. so the club still needs to buy rubbers :-/
  6. with such huge losses this last season with young birds in some federations and the up north combine races , i can tell you theres been plenty gone missing :-/
  7. race rubbers £22.00 a thousand ets rings £1.30 each x 1000 :-/
  8. so you still need your other clock settung then :-/
  9. why if there not needed :-/
  10. thats why i asked if they could be removed ;D because if so and can be used by someone else they will be plenty of birds return with them missing :-/saves the expense of buying new ones :-/
  11. thank you for your answers i just wondered how much rings where to replace ,everyone seems to be on about the system which is useless without the rings .
  12. if say i have 100 young birds how much for say 100 rings
  13. when do you after put the ring on bird can it be removed and used on other birds in your loft from old to young how much to keep replacing these rings
  14. many people sell pigeons thats what keeps the sport going ,has for charging people to sell pigeons your joking ,people buy and sell for what ever reason they do so ,people only buy what they can afford be it a pigeon at twenty pounds or someone with plenty of money buys one at hundred pounds . someone who cannot afford to buy expensive pigeons looks to people selling brand named pigeons for twenty pounds they may not be rich but great flyers who can probably get the best out of the bird . massarella said many years ago ,theres plenty of studs get rich schemes thought up everday but never last how true .massarella made the sport of pigeon racing affordable to every fancier in this country not just the rich and long may it continue. i know years ago some people had to back up claims when selling pigeons that what they sold went on to breed winners or won racing with testimonials from buyers in the bhw or squills ( if i remember right ). can you imagine the out cry if massarella had proposed a twenty thousand pound a year importers tax on pigeons brought into this country each year .
  15. Pigeon Pox is caused by a virus which is generally carried by mosquitoes and other biting insects. When a non-resistant pigeon is bitten by a carrier parasite, the virus enters the bloodstream of the bird. Within five to seven days, small whitish wart-like lesions appear on the head, feet, legs, and beak areas. These deposits can grow to become large yellowish bumps which, if removed, may ooze blood. In time, these lesions will dry and fall off, so I advise fanciers to leave them alone.
  16. Ubelievable November 21st I wrote that those people who claim that traditional auctions are history due to the Internet are wrong. This was proven again last weekend. Harry and Roger Wijnands auctioned part of their birds. For 99 pigeons no less than 401.160 euro was paid, so 4,052 euro average. Many top pigeons were bought by Thone but Gerard Koopman lay hands on the most expensive bird: (43,200 euro). And do not be surprised, this was only part of the auction, part 2 will take place coming weekend and... this was NOT A TOTAL auction. Wijnands goes on racing. Is pigeon sport dead?? anyone going to the second partof the sale ;D
