  1. Good luck to everyone, any idea when the challenge will start? Tariq.
  2. I didn't know my club supplied it, I'l ask when i'm there next...
  3. As training time is approaching, I think I need to vaccinate for PMV. I was wondering if the vaccine for 50 doses that you buy from boddy and ridewood or one of the online veterinary pharmacys come's with syringes? Or do you have to buy the Syringes elsewhere? I have 25 young birds and am wondering how best to go about vaccinating. Also as an aside, where's the best place to get a wing stamp?
  4. You might be able to see these?
  5. I hope they do well ;D Can anyone else not see the pics? mac1 - What do you see, a code? a blank space? an outline of a picture with a red cross in the corner? Tariq.
  6. Cheers Jimbobboy - I hope they do good
  7. There's that dude with all the videos on expert village that has a video on his colour preferences: http://www.expertvillage.com/video/18526_homing-pigeons-color.htm I don't know how much truth there is in white feathers becomming burnt out quickly, or hawks picking off the white ones first - the latter seems logical though?
  8. Forgot to mention, Amtrak turned up after 12 and had transferred mac1s birds over to some other boxes, cus the originals were so wet they were collapsing! Don't know what happened on their journey all together!
  9. I was thrilled today when I recieved 4 busschaert ybs from none other than mac1 - cheers Mark! This is my best yb, traps straight in like a bomb and is always first in! Some of my team feeding: This pair should have eggs soon By the way, can I make a public appeal to Ted Bewted to get in touch with me, cus my PMs aren't getting through to you - I just need to check what's happening with the transfer of the two mealy pieds - you'll know what I mean Ted. Cheers! Tariq.
  10. If it's quite big, then what I would personally do is soak about 20 peas from your normal racing pigeon corn in water for a while and put them down his beak one by one. Maybe twice a day?
  11. Fair enough. Cheers
  12. 1. Will people definately find out if you race untransferred birds? Or can you fly and win normally and get away with it? - Just curious. 2. When people talk about training tosses from 10 miles, 20 miles etc - do they mean by road or as the crow flies? Thanks! Tariq.
  13. Yeh, that's my plan too! Hopefully the younger ones won't go off on their own
  14. The new young birds will be straight off the nest. I won't let them out straight away obviously, I'm sure I'l be able to blend them in like you say though in good time? Hopefully! Tariq.
  15. Hi Lennut Tar The young birds have already been promised to me! I have 4 new ones coming on Tuesday (pictures to follow) and really a lot of people have said that with the losses you experience today, it is necessary to have about 20 and 10 is not really enough. Still, I shall have to go through the training procedure with these birds seperately, or they'll end up lost!! With their feed, I'm not starving them, I'm taking the hopper out when the first ones go for a drink Regards Tariq.
  16. Very nice! I like the first chequer pied one the best
  17. Thanks to the Great advice from members of my club and people like Bewted on here, my birds are now coming in on que when I call them! I just worry about more young birds, I'v only got 10 at the moment, so I suppose any new ones I'l have to go through the training process with/let out seperately? Or they'll get carried off with my current ones which are flying for about 15 minutes at the moment. Tariq.
  18. Came in yesterday, dark cheq cock.
  19. Thanks for your replies everyone, my birds are great so far! ;D I'm not sure which is my favourite, there are a few that I think maybe good ones eventually. Regards Tariq.
  20. Yep, birds were here at 8:25 in the morning Tariq.
  21. Hi Guys Progress report really. Today, I recieved by amtrak, five young birds from Ted (Bewted) who kindly bred them for me and even paid the carriage! I now have 10 young birds in my young bird section in the garage and 2 mealies about to be weaned into there aswell - got lots of reds and mealies! Here are the pics: All of the ybs Mealy from Ted another Mealy and a Red cheq, both from Ted Chequer pied from Ted Mealy from Ted Big thanks to Bewted for the birds I recieved today, I'm thrilled with them and hopefully, this young bird season will be good. Tariq.
  22. Wow, interesting to hear of everyone's methods. Peckedhen - that's particularly ingenious
  23. I have no reason to be removing a ring, I was just wondering, people talk about removing rings, well how do you do it without harming the pigeon? Are their like special cutters?
  24. I was thinking about this today, what happens if the person where birds are being delivered isn't at home when Amtrak call? Do you have to collect from the depot? Or do they get returned to the sender automatically? Also can you leave a note on the door telling the driver to leave them somewhere?
