That sounds interesting! A picture would be great!

Yeh the three birds are from the same fancier and the transfer fee is £1.50 I think. Mick - I don't know if it's slightly different as my club is affiliated to the WHU, doesn't matter in any case because I'v been told now that I can transfer now without a loft number, so I'l do that Thanks for your help. Tariq

Here's another question for you guys. I have three GB rung birds which I want to transfer. I don't have a loft number yet, I don't have to pay club fees until the young bird season I don't think, so I don't know if I'l get a loft number, but can I send a transfer to the RPRA with my address but no loft number? I know that the WHU transfers don't require a loft number at all. Tariq.

haha yeh that sounds ok! I have to wait till next July to fly a pigeon lol I wish the young bird season was sooner! Cheers all Tariq.

Gosh Ted, that's what I call generosity! We'll sort something when you've got 2 birds you can give me I realy would feel so guilty if you paid for Amtrak as well lol
-
Cheers Paul. My part of the transfer form for the 3 birds you gave me arrived to day, stamped with transfer approved. You should get your little card soon ;D

Before I actually started keeping the birds, when I was still looking into it, I never imagined that I would get so many offers for free birds, the help that people in the pigeon racing community will give to a young fancier is unbelievable!! I would glady take you both up on your offer, I'v only got 3 stock pairs, all are quite new and I don't think they're gonna start breeding for a while as they're still setting and seem quite nervous, with the exception of my first pair which I'v had almost 2 months now, they may breed... So yes, I would welcome young birds, I'm aiming for a team of 15, but I can always extend my section abit if I have a few more. Ted & Ben: I'd love a pair of young birds from each of you if that's still ok with you and I wouldn't expect you to pay amtrak? I'm sure I'l have some money next year to pay for the delivery of donated birds. Its kind enough to offer the birds! If you give me a PM when you have a pair available next year we'll arrange something!(I'm sure I wont have been put off by then ;D) Tariq.

Nope, got them both cheap off eBay ;D
-
Lol bleugh dont worry ted, I'l buy one fair and square next year, hopefully get 1 with a pedigree so that I can have some pure breed youngsters aswell as the hybrids and try them both. I have my busschaert pair too. Cheers though!! I'm gonna try and race about 15 young birds I think next year to a partioned bit of the garage. Tariq.

Well this is my Stock Loft, 4 hutches in the garage, can take 4 pairs currently And here's my new Delbar Cock, I'm completely skint at the moment, but I would in the future like a Delbar hen to go with him. He's with the mealy that Paul gave me for now. I'v always liked delbars. Regards Tariq.

Kwl. Thanks for all your replies guys

It went ok, there's a bit of an age difference between me and the rest of the club but ah well, they seem nice guys. 1, who wins the federation every year is going to ring me 6 young birds too! So I'l have those in addition to any my 3 stock pairs breed.
-
Yes I could comfortably house about 15 at present. I could always extend Paul as that partitioned bit where the bantams are, could be brought out further into the garage, but if I could just race 15 for my first season that would be fine. I'm going to put a sputnik on the outside of the garage infront of the small glass window. I was worried that racing with 15 young birds weekly in the young bird season may mean I have little success and not many birds at the end of the season, but its nice to know others only have small young bird teams too. Tariq.

As some of you may know I'm new to the sport and have so-far been to 1 club meeting. I'm going to start with young birds next year. At the club, they recommended a minimum of 30 young birds if you want a chance at some success. On the internet, the rule seems to be as many as you can manage. Being 16 years old and working from the back of the garage, it's going to be hard to house 30 birds, I was planning on having a young bird team of about 15 to start off with. what are peoples thoughts and out of interest, how many young birds will you be breeding? Regards Tariq.
-
Thanks everyone for your help/compliments or both. 1 more question, I want to start racing with young birds next year and have been advised not to join the club yet as I'l be paying weekly fees for old birds when I won't actually be racing anything. I'm still going to meet up with the club, so they'll probably advise me but will I still be able to get rings to ring the young birds as they are born? By the way Paul, I sent the transfer off today. Tariq.

Pictures as Promised Here's how my loft looks now: My Original two pigeons and my new ones from Paul: Did you manage to find your way home by the way Paul? Tariq.

Huge thanks to Paul aka invincible spirit who came tonight with birds, pedigrees, transfers and medication incase I require it in the future. I will post some pictures of the new birds soon. Tariq.

Gosh Paul, those Pedigrees have a nice few prizes in them ;D Thanks a lot and see you this afternoon

I see, I hadn't realise that some people would be looking to sell them on aswell :-/ I would imagine that probably if a new person was interrogated a little or asked to provide some pictures of their loft etc (though I appreciate not everyone has easy access to a camera) then maybe a subtle clue may arise to suggest that the person wasn't indeed genuine. Of course, its probably easy to become too cautious and attempting to catch a genuine new person out is not great for them! I know I wouldn't like it...
