  1. Thanks REDCHEQHEN I wonder if my club runs by a similar system...
  2. Hello Can somebody explain pooling for me. I understand that I'm betting whatever money I want on the bird I think might win the race. But say he does win the race, does that mean I keep all the pools from every other member? Or do pools get shared for 1st, 2nd and 3rd? What If I bet all the way along the sheet for 2 pigeons, only one can win, so if it won, would I keep my pools for the other pigeon, or would I lose these because that pigeon did not win the race? Confused lol Tariq.

    T3 Thimbles

Has anyone got any spare T3 thimbles they'd like to sell to a keen young novice I have been given 2 thimbles, but would like a few more if possible. Regards Tariq.
  6. Update: another bird home - 4/5 back! Tariq.
  7. Thanks for all your kind words guys! I have a Race sheet and it's nice to see my name scattered through it I'm annoyed with that mealy pied lol because if it had come in straight away i'd have won the race by miles. Still though, I think thats a good result for a first race! ;D Lets see what happens next week! I havn't checked whether my birds are back in yet, as only just got up, but I'l update if any do come back. Regards Tariq.
  8. Forgot to mention, freakin mealy pied hen didn't come in for 4 minutes! So yes, I could have got a better result if she'd come in straight away but never mind! The mealy Pied clocked in at 13:17:35 with a flying time of 1:12:35. The race was 38 miles 1529 yards.
  9. Well guys, the results are in! I got 3 Pigeons back from 5 after, although I'm assured that they will come back, most club members have a significant number of birds missing and some have been having birds in all evening. I got 2nd and 3rd! Oh yeh! 1st was my club mate Bobby Sadler - well done Bobby! his velocity 959.043 2nd Moi! With a Mealy Pied bred by Ted, Velocity 942.538 3rd Moi! With a nice black hen, Velocity 899.965 I also got 7th with a busschaert bred by Mac1, velocity 601.327 All in all very impressed! I'm looking forward to next weekend!
  10. Hi Guys: Birds got libbed at 12:05 pm I have 3 back so far! Spoke to club sec and he only had 2 back at the same time I had 2 back, but he sent 15 birds and I sent 5. No idea how well I'v done, because of the late liberation we aren't meeting at the club until 6:00pm. The Hen that came in first was one of two mealy pieds given to me by Ted (Bewted). Tariq.
  11. The weather here is pretty much: Blue skies visible, No rain, Some Sun. I believe there is a W wind. There is a mixture of white clouds and grey clouds.

    libs today

Rhondda Valley Fed at Hullavington currently held over, update at 12:30. Anyone live in Wiltshire know what the weather's like?
  13. Well got up at 7, Lib line said weather was bad and there would be an update at 8:30 Phoned 8:30, weather still bad - update at 10 Phoned 10 - The convoyer still hasn't seen any sun, update at 12:30! Arghhhh! In the meantime, I'v been warned to get some cider vinegar to give them on their return as a precaution for young bird sickness. You might be interested to know that of the 5 I sent, 2 are yours Bewted and 2 were bred by Mac1.
  14. we'll see, there's one or two that may come good! Like I say though, I just want to see them home. Tariq.
  15. Thanks guys. I sent 5 birds. I have the number for the Lib line, I'm hoping they go straight up at 7 or I'm gonna get fed up of waiting lol I'l let you know how I get on, though not anticipating anything great, I was advised not to send the best to the first race. Tariq.
  16. I'll find all this out at the club later, but might aswell know early if anyone answers before then. How will I know the birds have been liberated? Many Thanks for all the kind well-wishes so far. Tariq.
  17. Race day is here! Soon, I will take my birds to the club and enter them for their first race. I'm not sending my good couple of ones as I want to make sure my birds are ready and can handle 40 miles ok and with the threat of showers I don't want to risk it anyway. My club mentour agrees with me. Still though, I'm just looking forward to getting them back, because I know I'm not going to win anything. Wish me luck! Tariq.
  18. Anyone else Flying in the Rhondda Valley?
  19. Interesting topic seemingly! I have an overfly of about 3 miles, to the West of the other club members, don't know how advantageous/disadvantageous this will proove! Many Thanks for your replies so far! Tariq.
  20. Hi Ted, I'v run out of batteries for the camera at the minute, as soon as I get enough money to buy some more, I'l upload photos! Tariq.
  21. Thanks everyone for your repsonse and thanks for the PMs offering me the instructions! Today I get a call from said fancier, who says "I owe you an appology, I found the instructions" - : Once again though thanks for your offers to help everyone, much appreicated! With regards to the LCD, I do A level Biology of which microscopy is a substantial part. In school I use a traditional microscope and the LCD one is much better, with a bigger field of view, allowing more freedom when examining and it's got all the extra features, like allowing the user to snap images from the microscope and upload them to a PC.
  22. Can someone explain why a longer distance is such as advantage? Many Thanks Tariq.
  23. Thanks Guys Phil - Nope, they've been further than 9 miles and will be going even further again over the next few days.
  24. Hi Guys Just thought I'd post a little message, basketting for my first race is this Friday - I'm very excited! Although hve just found out about all the fees I have to pay every week with the fed, clock fees, bird fees but I'm sure I can beg, borrow and steal to cover them. The race is Hullavington which is about 40 miles from me. My birds are doing 9 miles in about 25 minutes training, does this seem slow? I am not too concerned about not winning, but I am worried I'm going to be way behind everyone else. Still, I am a beginner. Many Thanks to Mac1 and Bewted for the young birds they have supplied me with generously - all are doing well! Tariq.
  25. Hi All A fancier in my club gave me his Lidl Bresser LCD microscope to have a play about with and test some of his droppings. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced the instruction sheet that was in the box and whilst I didn't think they were that important, the fancier is really urging me to find them for him. So I was wondering, has anyone with this microscope still got their instructions that came with it? If so, is there any chance you could scan them in and email them to me? Or if not Post a copy to me, or post them to me and I will post them back once I've copied them? Any Postage costs will be covered. Many Thanks Tariq.
