hi fletch i woulde try perspex, it wont matter what size of mesh the birds will still cling to it ,plus the bigger mesh may allow sparrows in to your aviary,and that can cause problems thats my thoughts.

when trying to get them in dont through food on ground, keep all food in loft as thay will pick food on ground then go back on roof

if there is other fanciers near you go a long to see them take a camera with you and ask them if you can take photos of inside and outside of loft if there is a few lofts near you may get some ideas from the photos you take all the best with your venture
