The best fanciers are not always those at the top of the sheet, allot more to pigeon racing than being at the top of the sheet, helping new fanciers, promoting the sport, enjoying your birds. The best fancier I have came across in the east section who I know from personal experience helps the sport & fanciers & new fanciers alike is Ian Chalmers of Falkland,Fife a true gent & fancier it has been my privilege to call a friend for over 10 yrs now, he and his wife Madge always have a warm welcome & a cheery word for all who visit their home in Falkland as I'm sure the webmaster will verify. The birds I had of Ian (FOC) gave me my greatest thrill in the sport topping the Ayrshire Fed 3000 birds & the west coast combine 5001 birds, I know other fanciers have had birds from Ian & have topped there feds with them too. I had the pick of Ian's loft just over a year ago when I was making a short lived comeback in the sport out of these 4 pairs I bred for my pal 6 yb's in the January 4 of these 6 birds scored prizes both North & south road one red hen winning the strong Hurlford HS two weeks running ......5 of the 6 remain. Ian Chalmers a true Dooman & friend.

Most of them are in the east of the west section I think :-/ but all great fanciers I agree .

Very nice birds look great too ......but I still like to have air getting under loft .....bt what ever works for you mate
-
hope you get them Steve

Ayrshire is in Scotland .....so I'd guess not very near you

I can't imagine their being a law against keeping a small bird behind a piece of glass in your loft aslong as the small bird was kept healthy & as far as I know you can sit water anywhere in your garden......should any hawk be unfortunate enough to ht the glass & drown in the water I would say awww thats unlucky for it but lucky for the small bird the glass was there ;D ;D ;D
-
I think you will find we are still top .....huns & facts .....never seen together ;D
-
Don't darken the loft down so it is pitch black .....birds should be able to drink & have to find the drinker......always darken /lighten at the same time or within half hour of this time ,don't overcrowed your yb's , it does not matter if a wee bit of light come through the odd knot hole in your loft you must get your ventillation right .

Correct Frank .....but you mustfind a cross close to your own family body,feather,eye....family performance
-
As I said you have to put the right birds toghether ............also the hardest thing is getting these birds in the first place ....now hawks, falcons wires guns ....ect all contribute to why it is harder to come by such birds especially when the birds are young as they have no experiance ....also their eyes don't mature till about 18 months ....so you also need luck
-
Eye Sign ......use for breeding only off of proven stock .....proven by racing . But then you have to pair the correct eyes/birds to eyes/birds that will breed better birds & not over cook it you must through study of your own birds body,eye,feather......no one knows your birds better than you. But if you pair strong eyes to strong eyes over a long period of time you will get big show eyes that local eye sign experts lap up with a big ladle .....but the racing ability will diminish .....the eye must be even in the 5 circles and not over fill one aspect of the eye this is where eye study comes in .....trouble here is which eye sign expert do you follow ....who is right .....I think all are right as the eyes they now best are in their own lofts & they apply the good traits they see in the best birds in their own lofts .....but this might be different in other lofts ....you have to look your own birds in the eye & see what they tell you ....but this will not happen over night it will take years. If you keep the 5 circles evenly balanced you are well on the way.

it is nailed but will come apart ok.....only thing I will say is that I have nailed all the tiles one nail per tile
-
I would have had it up off the ground on breeze block so the air gets under the floor to dry it out ....any rain hitting the path at the door side will make it's way into the loft .....but otherwise looks a good job by someone that is handy
-
Naughy naughty very naughty......... ;D
-
so you have no excuse ...... ;D I was trying to throw you a wee lifeline & you've went and bust it ;D
-
