  1. here is a photo of 4 of my birds arriving at the loft, maybe not exactly what you are looking for???
  2. are you talking about screensaver, which comes on the screen after you have not used the computer for a while or a wallpaper that you have as a kind of background picture on your desktop(screen)
  3. a wallpaper i just threw together, feel free to use if anyone wants, of course it is sized for my own screen so it might not fit all, the resolution is 1280x1024 pixels
  4. do you have any good resolution pics of some of your favorite birds? if you do i might be able to make one for you.
  5. The ash can really damage the bigger jet engines but not so much the smaller old type of motor and it also has to do with wind direction. They have also been flying a helicopter there to get closer. But since i could not add my name to the Facebook thread the other day, and since many are reading this, by all means find me on facebook if you´re interested, i´m there as Högni Ólafsson

    NO PLANES ALL QUIETE

I bet it was nice, i also live close to an international airport, we somehow get used to tho noise, i only ever notice the noise when i have someone for a visit that is not used to it and they ask, how can you stand it.
  7. Thanks mate, we are fine here in Iceland, i just hope the airports will open up soon enough for you to get to Spain.
  8. Everything is good here, i live quite far from the volcano and the wind is blowing the other way, but our thoughts are with the people who live in the area and the farmers who have to hope for as little damage to their land as possible, they all had to leave their animals behind, which are safe for now but who knows what a volcano will do, there is also a glacier on top of the mountain and as it melts away floods are coming down the hills. It is true that this volcano (Eyjafjallajökull) erupted in 1821-1823 for almost 2 years and was followed by it´s big sister Katla, a much bigger and more dangerous volcano. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyjafjallaj%C3%B6kull http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katla
  9. Hi guys! from Iceland, i must say that i feel many of you are taking this very lightly, i would be very careful sending birds to a race or training in the next few days. The ash might be high in the air now but some of it might come down and this is very fine dust so it might not take a lot to damage a small respiratory system, i would also be concerned about if sun rays are getting through well enough. It might be fine but by all means use common sense and get to know a little bit about what you are dealing with. I was just watching the weather forecast, the wind will continue to blow your way in the next few days. Now i am not a scientist, it might be a good idea for the people in charge of your clubs and feds to contact someone with knowledge and get some information. BETTER SAFE THEN SORRY.
  10. My best breeding cock is from a father daughter pair, they were both great winners in thier racing careers.
  11. I had one hen last year who would lay eggs twice normal size, but that was both eggs and all her eggs were like that.
  12. 0-3 Liverpool
  13. Treat only sick birds, and on vets advice. Don´t treat all the birds if 1 or 2 are sick or even worse if none are sick.
  14. Just do it, you wont be sorry if you prepair them correctly.
  15. I had some very good birds from John and Alex and they made an excellent cross with my old family, so i would recommend that you try to get a good family to cross with them, maybe someone with experience with them can recommend where you could go.
  16. It´s not a question of black and white, the loft plays the biggest role in this, if you have a good loft with good ventilation you should not clean to much, i don´t clean and i have not gotten sick birds since 2006. Then again if you have much humidity around your loft and inside i think you better clean regularly.
  17. They are doing very well here in Iceland, mainly crossed with our old lines but also pure, i sometimes wonder if people are to quick to judge the pigeons and never look at the fancier who is racing these pigeons. Maybe, just maybe there is nothing wrong with the birds but something wrong in the management or the loft and it often is just the smallest thing that can make all the difference.
  18. Get the Secrets of Champions 4 DVD, it´s about lofts and ventilation. and since you´re at it get the other 3 also, the best stuff on pigeon racing i´ve seen.
  19. Sedochol and brewers yeast do wonders for the birds while moulting
  20. I have now, and i don´t think it is a stupid comment, i´m just talking in general what jelousy can do to you, sorry if i have offended anyone, not my intent.
  21. Now i did not follow the Ronny De Dobblaer thread through to the end but i get the drift from your post Alex. As sad as it is people are always ready to attack those who do well, usually they don´t deserve it and i believe this is the case here. Jelousy can make people say and do stupid things.
  22. What do you want to do with it would be my question.
  23. There is a simple solution to this problem, one year ban from racing to those who fail to make arrangements for thier lost/found birds, no nonsense policy!
  24. Can anyone tell us why birds get lost when both sun and moon are visible???
  25. I´ve lost 2 birds, they went missing around the loft in one of the first times they went out. Here in Iceland we have our first race next weekend and fanciers are training like never before and over the last weekend i´ve heard from 2 fanciers who have lost many birds, one has 11 from 23 back and the other has 3 from 10 back, what might be causing this i don´t know, we don´t have a BOP problem here.
