Thanks. Its really upsetting. I saw them circle once in the distance and when the time went on I thought they were training hard today but three hours later I started getting worried. If they dont come back I am wiped out for the youngbird season. :-/

Hi Guys, I let my young birds (24) out at 11:40 am today and none except three have come back. Does anybody have any ideas of what could have happended to them. I just feel like we have just wasted 6 months of nothing.

Using a pigeon as live bait is sick. What makes the pigeons life worth less than their own.

Do you have any open chimneys nearby? I have lost a few down chimneys!! :-/

Have you tried feeding them some corn before you let them out. I found that it took away the hunger pangs and the birds flew longer. If they are hungry they know the sooner they come down the sooner they can eat. Hope this helps.

Hi Guys, Pigeon is back to normal now which leads me to believe that it was actually just a bump on the neck that it suffered. Well relieved with the outcome. Want to say thanks to everyone for their help and advice. If I had killed the bird it would have been a waste of a pigeon. And a very good pigeon at that too.

Hi I had a pigeon come back from a race with a ruptured airsac. I was told to leave it and not let it out for a week. The pigeon healed itself without any interference from me. Its back to normal now. Hope this helps.

There must be something scaring them when they are in the loft. A cat or something. I am sure when they are really hungry they will come in.

There are a few diseases that make them twist their heads.

Hi Guys, I phoned the vet this evening and my test for paramyxo was negative. It was a huge relief for me. The only thing I dont understand is that he only tested for paramyxo and so cant tell me what is wrong with my bird. He is sending me another 5 days worth of Baytril which he thinks will do the trick. Its like someone said ealier in the thread, its blind treating. Thanks to everyone tho.

Not yet mate. Will do it tonight when I give him other medicine. Will let everyone know.

Sorry to bang on about this and grasping at straws but... Less than a week before this cock started twisting his neck I weaned his youngsters. Paramyxo is contageous enough to have passed it on to them, yet the youngsters are fine. Does this lesson the chances of it being paramyxmo?
