most over the counter medications are half strength , thats why i go to a vet because over the counter stuff doesnt work unless you double the dose ( im not recommending anyone doubles the dose but to get good medication from a avian vet whos tested your birds in the first place ) costing far more than seing a vet , over the counter may be cheaper but not effective and can cost you more in the long run

should wait for warmer weather for yearlings and latebreds or as Mark says it be over before you get them started after all this years yearlings are next seasons 2 year olds and the backbone of any loft

sounds trapped nerve re egg bound get some calcium tablets from chemist bath bird and get a hot water bottle ( not too hot ) give a calcium tablet and cod liver oil capsule and wrap in a tea towel give water with a syringe and egg should come and bird will recover

well owner did the right thing and last thing you need is to fall out with neighbours , it wont replace your bird or make it right but its better than getting nothing at all

feeding in the trap when you have only a few birds is ok but if had more then the birds in the trap may hinder other birds from trapping , feeding a few small seeds in trap ok as will help them to trap but if put a small pot of white dari in every time you trap they come in much quicker then just move pot from trap to floor then they'll enter and go for the pot and not hinder any other bird coming in
