    Basket Day

birds are all individuals,, what suits one, may not suit another, so i would find out by trial and error , whats the best answer to this [some yearling cocks will race better to the box for a few weeks ,[ if they are of an excitable nature they travel bad and can easy be lost ] i suppose its a case of knowing your birds individually
  3. yip , for some reason have noticed that in many lofts this year , but, can only be a good thing really :)
  4. hi ben,, theanswer to that one is a definate yes , leave them outside in the basket, at least 15 mins b4 you release them,, but as far as them comming separate , i wouldnt worry about that, could be many reasons
  5. i wouldnt attempt to train or race any hen well b4 laying and well after laying [at least 5 days,, ] usually find blood stained eggs from a hen laying its very first egg
  6. today in the lothians,, the best day weve had this year , not a cloud in the sky and actualy,, warm ;D,,,,,,,lets hope it keeps up, ,,you watch in a fortnights time when racing is supposed to start ,,ittl be snowing or something ,, but certainly unusual for us to have weather like that today ;D ;D ;D let the sun shine in face it with a grin smilers never loose and frowners never win ;D ;D ;D a great old song with great words ;D ;D ;D
  7. the rspb do not want eagle owls living wild in brittain,, [ e mailed them] but surely they come under the same wild life and countryside act as the perigrines,,,,,,they know full well this is true ,,but,,,if there were more eagle owls in uk there would be less perigrines ,,,,,,,,,its a strange coincidence that when ever they are reported to be nesting ,, something? happens to them ,, youl find articles on hawks post concerning this
  8. ;D ;D ;D ;D definately true ;D ;D ;D
  9. brilliant pic,,, wee fifers getting bigger since i last saw him great photograph mitch and wee fifer ,,,,,,seen the two ybs today ,,can only describe them as absolute stunners :) [better looking than mitch ;D ;D ;D]

what a beautifull picture of this pigeon ,, is it a modena? certainly a beauty,, as far as racer goes geneticly you could breed this colour if you were really clued up on genetics,,,,,,everyone to their own fancy
  11. a p,m would be the answer ,, i once had a hen 4th in a sat race dead by the next friday,, pm showed egg forming and growing in the" wrong place" some thing like the fallapion tubes in a human
  12. theve a 24 hour contract , if they break it i would see a lawyer , i would still pay them,, then take action

  22. i think,, kev, had it been lack of water , the otherbirds would be the same ,, youll find thatsome hens loose the power of their legs after or during laying ,, wish you all the best with the bird [ whatever you do,, dont blame the wife ;D ;D ;D ;D]
  23. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :X :X :X ;D
  24. i have used this with no probs at all at least to the pigeons , i can get it on prescription from the sacc, with out any bother,, but the vet does know me and trust me,,,,,, just a point of interest a neighbour took her budgie to the vet [i bred budgies] the vet gave her 10 ml of baytril[ 2 teaspoons full ] charged her £30 ,,,the problem was scaly face which was treated with an ointment that cost £i ,75,,,, bird now cured ,,,,owner skint ;D ;D ;D
