a catapult,, firing chopped up potatoes , wont damage tiles or birds, but theyll get the message ,,allways a reward [titbit ] down for them when they behave :)
-
must say ive had the same on many occasions,, trouble here is they keep changing the driver?,, and , really for the amount you pay,, they treat these boxes like gold , the old driver used to just leave a bundle,,,not now

yes, def, thats what they need is competition, they have there own way and say at the moment [and their own price :)],, a bit of feirce competition , would soon bring the prices down

the hens seem to be very well anyway, but as the warmer weather comes, should think ,quite a few will pair , maybe using poles for perches, grills at an angle on the floor [ i,e against the wall of the loft to the middle of the floor and the same at the back, creating a "v" shape] but,,,in the past have found paired hens race very well ...., with the w,hood cocks , ive used the same hens for differant cocks,so really its a case of trial and error

sounds fantastic, hope you do well with them,

yes have bred some strange colours through the years ,incedently, the one that had thr red cheq on one side and b,cheq on other side ,,,,had two completely differant eyes? ,,anyway another trait i found with the chocoatedi used to breed, as yb,s they were pure chocolate in colour, andeach year as they moulted the grew more white body and wink feathers, and at 6 yearsold were more white than chocolate,,,strange but true :)
-
bred a blue cheq on one side a red cheq on other side,, since then have seen a few of these colours about

wait till june ,, train them well ,, race them the following year [ 4 strays in the last fortnight 4 latebreds , one carrying 8 nest flights,],,,,,,,,,think that tells you,,,my opinion is birds are better trained in the year of their birth

i topped the fed with a b, bar feral pigeon rung in a barn,,,62 mile race 5,000 birds ;Dtrue ;D, see scot own book late 90,s , this bird was kept for stock after that ;D ;D and reared many winners ;D ;D ;D,,,[it didnt breed them though],, but it never had a days illness in its life [alltough it began to fade in racing after that result ;D, either got it later in the evening , with full crop, or the following morning ;D raced to 150 miles, then stoped ;D ;D ;D,,,true

some really good tips , im sure all you members with the old back pain knows exactlywhat its like [ words wouldnt describe it ;D ;D ;D] ,, got the grain bag as a pillow ,, it does help [ allways handy if i run out of grub too ;D]] now the tai treatment ;D well ;D,, its advanced ankylosing spondulitis which i have had for 20 years ,, but far worse now,, causing more probs than just the back ,,leaking valve in the heart etc etc etc [last few days , bad nights ] but afer medication [dont drink now a good few years, so cant have a nip ]and wired up ;D to tens machine, heat pads etc , i come round a bit ;D ;D ;D ;D,, but by the time ive did all this its time for bed again ;D ;D ;D,, good luck to all the other members in "the sore back club" ;D ;D ;D,,,,,,,just apply for back money ;D

one thing ,, is that feral pigeons living in a farm in the country will be far more healthier than the "streeters",, only trying to look at the positive side p,m , but if theve been there for many years ,as you say , youll probably find they,ll have a very strong constitution [ which our racing pigeons to day lack]

good luck craig,, lovely pics, certainly looked a lovely blue sky , and an ieal placefor a lib :)

my thoughts on training is that they should be trained for the races required of them,, training early will may be win you the first race or two , where really there should only be seconds in it,, , i would much prefer to dabble away with a half dozen birds or so, for the first 4 races ,,then set out the" a," team ;D ;D ;D in the middle or end of may, , i wouldnt hesitate sending them straight from the loft in the best of weather to 150 miles ,,first race,,but they would be fit at home,,,, an old saying by david parkinson,,,,,",races are won at home" ;D ;D ;D think about it ;D ;D ;D,, any way all the best to all you guys , its a lovely day here in the lothians ,, plenty batches shooting over , theres a nice wee , s,w breeze,,and lovely blue sky ,,,,,,,,long may it continue ;D ;D ;D
