Do you need to be a current member of the SHU to get birds transfered to you? I have been an individual member but did not join this year.I have my loft number,had it for years,would like to transfer birds and also get birds transfered to my name.

If SHU rules are the same as the RPRA, the rings are already transferred in your name as you are an individual member.You are already a member of the SHU you just haven't acquired the rings from a pigeon club.
