Guest Owen Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 The local Borough Councillors are suporters of pigeon racing in this area, because they think that it is good for community harmony. One of the three, races birds himself and another is the President of a Club. Perhaps we are lucky. I think you should try to get one of your Borough Councillors to help you put your case. They have a great deal of sway because they can talk informally as well as formally to their colleages. Before you take that step if might be a good idea to find out what prompted this action. For example, have there been complaints? Who made the complaints? Are they justified, looking at it from an unbiased point of view? I think we all know of Pigeon Fanciers who are very bad neighbours. You know, birds on the roofs, waking people up at ungodly hours, shooting or poisoning cats. That sort of thing. Now then, if that is the case you have one hell of a job to do.
REDCHEQHEN Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 i know of a similar thing as this this...my m8 had animals and the council had a complaint from a neighbour...they said that he had to remove certain avaries..but could keep some..he asked why some and they said that they had been there for 4years or more and that is the rule they go by...in other words if lofts are there for 4years or more and no one has complained there you have a case....but councils differ. I thought it was 2 years
THE FIFER Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 if you are allowed to keep HENs (poultry) pigeons are classed as poultry, thats why we have to vaccinate them,
Guest spin cycle Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 its difficult to comment but on the face of it they could be just trying it on. have you got to vacate the plot...or just not keep pigeons ? does seem strange that you can keep other stock...but not pigeons. if it were me i would want to know why and make my councllor the first port of call. if you'd like some help writing a letter etc pm me and i'll try to help. best of luck anyway
Guest Owen Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Please go and get the facts. We would all like to help but you have to give us more information. Red Checker Hen is right. Is it 2 years or four years, you must find these things out. Go and see someone who knows. And if it turns out that a Pigeon Fancier has been a bloody nuisance, it will be your best interest to find out, so you can do something about it. You may need to show that you are a good tenant and that you are showing a good example to others. But, you must go and get the information.
