This is the first egg ive had off this hen so im just wondering is it normal for a hens verry first egg to have blood on the shell.its not alot of blood droppings are perfect and she looks in great nick.

 

i do recall something somewhere about blood on the shell being related to being over weight but i cant be sure i migjt have just thought i read it somewhere she dosnt look overweight

Was the egg large? Was it smooth or a bit rough shelled? Was it a perfect shape or elongated?

 

It is normal sized smooth

 

Nothing to worry about especially from a yearling

 

I was hoping it was because its her first
