Upsndoons Posted March 19, 2016 Report Posted March 19, 2016 So sincere thanks to the keeper of pigeons who showed such concern for my yearling hen who was clearly injuried and entered your loft seeking security and assistance. Obviously, being the true fancier you are (not) you remove the ring from the bird and then throw it out into the wilds. No need to risk the expense of a phone call to SHU to find my name and contact detail for fear I may actual turn up at your hovel with a grateful attitude and gift to such an excellent credit to our hobby.May I wish you all the success and good will which you clearly wish to true racing fanciers of which you will never be. Being back in the sport for just one year and looking forward to competing with the better members of our sport you are a fine example of the bad end of our trade and rest assure I am willing all the hawks, wires and setbacks endured by the decent guys of our sport to assist you in the future. #OSSER.

As far as I believe there is no A R Sole in Carnwath club
Upsndoons Posted March 19, 2016 Author Report Posted March 19, 2016 As far as I believe there is no A R Sole in Carnwath clubAbsolutely, the bird was gone for a week so this individual could be anywhere in Scotland.Fortunately a minority.Cheers
Harry0 Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 How do ypu know it was a pigeon fancier. Its well know that a lot of the bird rescue centers remove the ring after treatment so the birds can no longer race.
Upsndoons Posted March 20, 2016 Author Report Posted March 20, 2016 Surely a bird rescue individual or organisation would recognise a racing pigeon ring and bird and know to contact its owner if only to get him collect the bird or pay the bill, both I which I will always do. It's our responsibility as decent fanciers. Ah Well
greenbar Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 we got one back last year,a( pure white),shu ring removed ,and replaced by a red clip ring, maybe liked the look of it,
gulkie Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 I'm sure this has happened to a lot in the sport ,has happened to me more than once .Had a bird return to me a number of years ago from a race with its rubber ring round Both legs ,and they call them selfs pigeon fancier,SCUM .
yeboah Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 I gifted a friend in lanarkshire birds last year got a phone call from him last week some low life entered his loft and took two of them Sad times
Michael J Burden Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Some children are guilty of doing this. I know of no evidence either way but it happens. MJB

They get stray racers in and treat the birds . The rings are removed so the birds wont be sent to races in future as they regard it as cruelty .
