imo they can only learn so much once they have mastered the last 20 to 30 miles and been there plenty times id leave them to next year if latebreds thats different anything from 6 to 20 short tosses will stand them in good stead for next year as for the moult as long as your are not going to far it will do them no harm as long as its not to cold choose the best days with the wind not to strong good luck with them

Ybs can be trained at 12 weeks old and get plenty short ones in as much as possible in my opinion....I normally got to 1 mile and just fire them out then I go to ten mile fore quite a few trainers

One thing I stopped doing this year was giving them time to settle at the lib site...as soon as I stop the car they get put out.....started doing this after I read Ad sherlauchens does it

Latebreds must be trained and If I had them any decent winter day I'd get them down the road, doesn't need to be too far

Ive done this for years, in fact I don't even take them out the van, I open back doors and let them out as soon as I stop. The birds get the same from the transporter , if you think about it.They cant see out the crates and are libbed without seeing about themselves.

Yeah mate exactly I done it a few times and noticed no difference at all with the doos they still flew about for a bit at first bt after a while out and off....I'm normally in a rush all the time so out they go

When you do your first 20 miles toss;do you always get them back that day or can it take a couple of days. :animatedpigeons:

Depending on the win I'd expect them all back within 40-45 mins tops for the first 20miler....but I'd have a lot of short ones before that

When switched on they should do 20 miles near a minute a mile depending on wind

They look fine but have moulted a lot of small feathers;ive done about a dozen drops over 3 months;most of the time they stay out ranging.
