BobW61
Sorry for such a late reply but only just joined the forum....many years ago whilst out vaccinating club members birds we visited the lofts of the late Tony Beedham (Grimsby) to cut a long story short he had 5 hens basketed up he didn't want vaccinating I was a hen short and asked if I could take a very nice Chequer Hen he told me she direct from Honeysuckle Lofts...I took her home paired her to a Blue (Taffy Bowen) Cock he was a decent widowhood cock for me I only bred 2 youngsters from this pair after losing the Cock over the Channel the youngsters a Blue cock and Cheq Hen the hen won Huntingdon 1st Club, 8th Fed and the cock bred several decent pigeons for me....I foolishly killed the mentioned Honeysuckle Hen after losing her mate and before y/b racing commenced so I lost out for been to hasty...I only took her to keep a widowhood cock happy but my hastiness killed a good hen.
