walterboswell59 Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) i only get 8 to 10 years out out my stock hens because i breed so many from them each year but my cocks were still filling last year at 14 15 16 and 19 the old guy will be 20 this year and is on with his daughter so here is hopeing he is still fertile but ive plenty at stock off him but will take the hen off him at night this year again so he treads her everyday when i put her back with him as this seems to be the problem with older cocks they do not tread the hen enough so eggs are infertile keep them stimulated by taking the hen out at night and putting her back in the morning so he is glad to see her and treads i do this up untill second egg is layed and it works fine hens are different once they lay all the eggs in there body there done sometimes you will get an odd one or two off them by giving them a fertile egg from another pair and after rearing a yb will stimulate her to lay again but its just your luck if they do or dont hope this helps m8ps lightly bred from hens will lay well into there teens also Edited January 10, 2015 by walterboswell59
