ALF Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 IT REALLY HAS BEEN GETTING OUT OF HAND THE AMOUNT OF THINGS GETTING MOVED ON HERE IN THE LAST WEEK OR TWO : : :
Guest Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 bruno if you cant understand what i posted get an interpriter and stop pulling all the postings Some members have taken exception to the removal of 23 off-topic posts (2 below) from one thread in particular, and have taken to posting crass comments, like the heading on this thread. In the moved thread you complain about, ‘Message to Me’ you are a clearly a victim, and I asked that you report the original post to Webmaster. I moved the thread from the General Board, which is open to any member of the Public to see, and left a trail to Pigeon Politics, which no member of the Public can see. I also locked it (4 below). As requested by ordinary members, I also explain why I have taken these actions, though the reasons are there in the Code of Conduct, and have even headed these posts ‘as moderator’ because some clearly have difficulty seeing the difference between what I can do as moderator and my posts as an ordinary member. I could not and would not remove other member’s opinions expresse4d in in-code posts as some seem to think. Despite doing this, I get crap like this (despite 7 below). So no more cake & eating it, in future boyos, if it contravenes anything in the Code, it comes out, and no explanation, from me anyway. I’ve better things to do with my time. Recommended Guidelines (1) Post any new topics in the correct section. (2) Stay on-topic. (3) Avoid the use of strong or inappropriate language. (4) Refrain from lashing back at a poorly behaving member or participating in a flame war; instead, notify the webmaster or one of the moderators of the event. Moderation (5) Moderators have the power to enforce many of the rules and guidelines set out in the forum Code of Conduct. Actions may include but are not limited to: delete/lock/move/merge topics and messages. (6) Forum Moderators are normal members, not employees, who have been hand picked after they have managed to prove consistently that they have the skills and experience needed for helping us maintain fairness in the Forums. (7) All administrative actions taken by the moderators and administrators of this forum are final. Posts commenting on or criticizing forum administrative actions will be deleted. Any complaints or disagreements regarding forum moderation should be made by contacting the webmaster.
gangster Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 but with respect "bruno" a lot of posts are a bit of banter id rather see more banter between members than all the nasty stuff we have had before..........and if someone has a dig and its not a bit of craic then im gonna stand up n be counted as do 1 or 2 others id rather have the craic but dont expect me to not resond in kind...... and i do realise the job on here you do a bit of flexibility would not go amiss................
Guest Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Flexibility works 2 ways. I'm stuck with 23 posts which I agree were banter and really really funny, but they were sexually explicit and aimed at one sexual group in particular. With over 1300 members, there must be very young members, and (probably) members of that one sexual group amongst them. Each of these groups need respectful and equitable treatment. And this thread was also on a board open to the general public. What if some 10 year old surfer opened that one up? I did look at making a new thread on Chit-Chat for those 23 posts, but there was no real place on this forum it could go without causing offence or where minors can't get at it. The precedent had also been set ... these sort of posts had caused complaints in the past ... and webmaster had removed them. I've been accused of double standards in the past ... this standard was already set, was I supposed to go against it?

Webmaster Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Splitting, merging, moving topics are done for a reason, like the forum is categorised for a reason. It hasnt been long that the redirect link (on the moved page) has been appearing - it was a new feature to the forum around Christmas time. We can move the topics to the relevent section and leave the link for you, or move them and not leave the link (and you wouldnt know to complain ;D). The links are left to help you out.... Regarding banter; a large degree of banter will be left on the Chit Chat board - I dont have time to read it anyway - but the rest of the forum is for discussion and debate; keep the banter on the Chit Chat board, and we wont have to move, split or remove any (read many!!) of your topics
