Ringing Older Birds.

As per title. Anybody heard about ringing older birds? I was on another forum, where it mentioned unrung youngsters being rung. It went on the lines a guy bought surplus birds all unrung and wanted to join a club. Few posts later he thanked the club for rings and another person, for showing him how to put a ring on any age bird, without cutting the ring! Just got me thinking, how they did it? I know of ringing with current and next years on early bred birds and cutting unwanted off at later date. But this practice has me stumped. Any thoughts or ideas?

impossible you'd split the toes / leg unless the ybs are recklings and are really scrawny but best place for them be bin

I have seen it done with big ybs . inside of the ring is filed almost away

It would still be illegal as altering rings in any way is strickly forbidden.

It's unnecessary as well because ye can ring full grown birds, not ALL adult birds but some can be rung as ob's. Ave seen it done.
