Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 Rangers began their route to the final by beating Stade Rennes 2–1 on aggregate. The first leg was drawn 1–1 with Willie Johnston scoring for Rangers. Rangers won the return leg 1–0 through Alex MacDonald. The second round saw Rangers play Sporting Lisbon from Portugal. Rangers led the first half of the first leg 3–0, but lost two goals in the second half to lead 3–2 going into the second leg. The second leg finished 3–2 to Sporting, 5–5 on aggregate. Willie Henderson scored for Rangers in extra time but Rangers then lost a goal with six minutes left to make it 6–6 on aggregate. What followed has been described as being one of the most bizarre incidents in the history of any European tournament.[1] The Dutch referee Laurens van Raavens failed to recognise that Rangers, having scored three away goals to Sporting's two, had won the tie. But the referee made both teams take five penalties each, with Rangers losing the shootout. After Rangers manager Willie Waddell pointed out the away goals rule to UEFA, the referee was overruled, the result overturned and Rangers were heading into the next round.[1] Rangers then played Torino, Italian league leaders at the time, and won 2–1 on aggregate. In the semi final Rangers played Bayern Munich, who had beaten Rangers in the final five years previously in Nuremberg. Rangers progressed 3–1 on aggregate to reach their third European final. As it is, here for the Bears
Guest bigda Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 the away team get the bonus of the chance of another away goalas the home team get the bonus of playing the extra 30 minutes at home we will just have to agree to disagree m8 but to win the game you have to win it by 2 clear goals if you are the home team, where as the rule says a goal a head, nulifys the away goal.

The away goal only comes into effect in the event of a draw. A team could score 9 away goals but its counts for naff all if they get beat 10-9..... or would the team that scored 10 lose as they didn't get 11 Are you not getting confused with Tennis wherby you have to win a deciding set by 2 clear games As it is.... you know the rest

As it is, here for the Bears ON THE SECOND LEG THE GAME FINISHED AFTER EXTRA TIME 4-3 THAT WAS THE END OF THE AWAY GOAL AND THAT IS WHY THE PENALTY'S SHOULD HAVE STAYED. AS I SAID FOR SPORTING TO WIN IT THEY WOULD HAVE NEED 2 GOALS MORE WHEN THE GAME WAS ALL SQUARE 6 EACH YOU USED UP THE AWAY GOAL TO GET EXTRA TIME IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 WELL READ THE THREAD THEN, SPORTING WON THE SECOND GAME 4-3 AND RANGERS CLAIM THE AWAY GOAL THE WINNER. Yes but they were at home expletive remove and lost the first game at Ibrox 3-2. Therefor they scored 2 away goals and Rangers scored 3 away goals...... Now can you do the sums? As it is, here for the Bears

Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 ON THE SECOND LEG THE GAME FINISHED AFTER EXTRA TIME 4-3 THAT WAS THE END OF THE AWAY GOAL AND THAT IS WHY THE PENALTY'S SHOULD HAVE STAYED. AS I SAID FOR SPORTING TO WIN IT THEY WOULD HAVE NEED 2 GOALS MORE WHEN THE GAME WAS ALL SQUARE 6 EACH YOU USED UP THE AWAY GOAL TO GET EXTRA TIME IN THE FIRST PLACE. You need help man. It was 5-5 on aggregate after 180 mins with both teams recording a 3-2 home win. As a result at this stage away goals did not come into effect as both teams had scored 2 away goals at this point. Hence the reason for extra time. The fact that Rangers scored another AWAY goal in extra time meant that they went through on away goals (3 for the gets and 2 for sporting) and the penalties should never have happened. As it is

As it is, here for the Bears IT WAS ALL SQAURE FIRST GAME 3-2 SECOND GAME 3-2 THAT MEANT NO AWAY GOAL COUNTED AFTER 90 MIN, SO EXTRA TIME, AFTER EXTRA TIME THE SCORE NOW READS 4-3 TO SPORTING , THAT GOAL THEY SCORED NOW WIPES, OUT THE AWAY GOAL RULE MAKING IT PENALTYS THEY TAKE THEM AND WIN THEM BUT RANGERS WANT ANOTHER GOAL FROM SOME WHERE THAT THEY AINT GOT

This might make it easier for you to understand Rangers goals on the left ..... Round Opponents First leg Second leg Aggregate score First round Stade Rennes 1–1 (a) 1–0 (h) 2–1 Second round Sporting Lisbon 3–2 (h) 3–4 (a) AET 6–6 Quarter-finals Torino 1–1 (a) 1–0 (h) 2–1 Semi-finals Bayern Munich 1–1 (a) 2–0 (h) 3–1

Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 no point in exsplaining they only understand brown envelopes in the back door The big problem is he seems to be unable to count to 6!
Guest bigda Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) Danny read this.... but it could be a big conspiracy right enough! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1972_European_Cup_Winners'_Cup_Final but what was not mentioned was the score as the way it panned out after extra time 4-3 it was that score that sporting would then have to win by 2 goals instead of the one goal as it was 6 each as stated and the away goal on the day was counted twice as it was used to get the extra time game sporting pulled the game back to all square 6-6 with there 4-3 win that how rangers got away with it the away rule saved them but sporting could not win unless the result was by 2 clear goals like a 5 3 win so 2 goals needed from all square game and should you then add up the goals it would read 8 for sporting and 6 to rangers Edited August 10, 2014 by bigda

DJWa Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 but what was not mentioned was the score as the way it panned out after extra time 4-3 it was that score that sporting would then have to win by 2 goals instead of the one goal as it was 6 each as stated and the away goal on the day was counted twice as it was used to get the extra time game sporting pulled the game back to all square 6-6 with there 4-3 win that how rangers got away with it the away rule saved them but sporting could not win unless the result was by 2 clear goals like a 5 3 win so 2 goals needed from all square game and should you then add up the goals it would read 8 for sporting and 6 to rangers count again danny sporting scored 2 away goals at ibroxplus the 5-3 they would of needed to win the tie overall 5 + 2 = 7 not 8 so 7-6
Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 11, 2014 Report Posted August 11, 2014 but what was not mentioned was the score as the way it panned out after extra time 4-3 it was that score that sporting would then have to win by 2 goals instead of the one goal as it was 6 each as stated and the away goal on the day was counted twice as it was used to get the extra time game sporting pulled the game back to all square 6-6 with there 4-3 win that how rangers got away with it the away rule saved them but sporting could not win unless the result was by 2 clear goals like a 5 3 win so 2 goals needed from all square game and should you then add up the goals it would read 8 for sporting and 6 to rangers How do you manage to find your way home every day

Guest stb- Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 Oh dear dear celtics arses nipping again now RULES ARE RULES well seems uefa have brocken there own rules in making there decision to re instate clatic . The decision is supposed to be given by a 3 man committee going by the RULES but opps it was only taken by one as uefa now saying they didint have tiome to fly the other 2 in before the draw and fast tracked it in clatics favour . UEFA have broken their own rules in a rush to reach a decision last Friday before the draw for the next round was made. It has been claimed technical stipulations were breached including a failure to appoint a three-man committee. But Pinto said: “It is correct that this decision was made by one person but this happens because there is no time to fly people in.

Guest bigda Posted August 12, 2014 Report Posted August 12, 2014 By 2009, 200 people had been arrested by the Polish authorities, including referees, observers, coaches, players as well as some high-ranking officials of the Polish FA. Zagłębie Lubin, were relegated from the Polish top flight due to corruption, along with Widzew Åódź who were also charged with corruption and match fixing – but were relegated through poor performances on the park anyway. According to reports in Poland, a total of 75 Polish football clubs have been suspected of match fixing and corruption over the years. Corruption is still rife in the game despite the authorities best efforts. Legia Warsaw may ‘no longer be the friends of Celtic’ but they certainly cannot lecture or dictate what Celtic should do after they simply kept quiet and let UEFA deal with the situation according to their rules. The club asking for Celtic to uphold sporting integrity and doing what is best for the game, not only were found guilty of widespread racist behaviour and hooliganism – but also corruption to fix games in a bid to win the league title. Legia are certainly not a club that should be lecturing anyone about ‘sporting integrity’.
