sapper756 Posted July 26, 2014 Report Posted July 26, 2014 The 2014/15 season will soon be under way, and a lot of closed season transfers have been taking place, which transfers do you think are good business? and which do you think are poor business? Drogba returns to Chelseahttp://e2.365dm.com/14/07/16-9/20/drogba-cl-drogba-celebrating_3178136.jpg?20140725172054
BIGPETE Posted July 26, 2014 Report Posted July 26, 2014 I would say Man City have done the best business economically. Three top class players (Fernando, Sagna, Caballero) for 18m. Chelsea have probably brought in the best players but must have spent about 80m+ Not convinced at all by Liverpools buys as they are decent players but not world class and stinks of, "doing a Tottenham" when they sold their Golden boy and replaced with quantity rather then quality. Newcastle have done some great business and as ever punching above their weight being very ambitious and buying the right people at the right prices (no doubt they will be out the door in 12-24 months for a much inflated fee). Southampton are the team of interest for me at the moment. Ok they have been robbed off the bulk of their good players (but have got top dollar for each of them) so have a lot of funds and look to be ready to re-invest and rebuild. Should be a fantastic season either way. Myself I am an Arsenal fan and think we will finish top 4 (at best).

I think the bulk of their transfer money will be earning interest next season; just can't see them buying anyone of note.
BIGPETE Posted July 26, 2014 Report Posted July 26, 2014 I don't think Southmapton will struggle to bring in quality players. Tadic is a good player and Grizaino Pelle scored 55 goals in 66 matches for Feyenoord when playing under the new Southampton Manager. Old Koeman seems to be well connected and has managed some top quality clubs, no doubt he is tapping up a lot of people to bring in real quality under the radar. Gotta be honest, if LLANANNA, SHAW & CHAMBERS weren't British we all know they wouldn't be worth half of what they have sold for. You might be right they'd be better holding on to a lot of the money they recoup though cos their youth development system seems to be working wonders producing walcott, bale and oxlade chamberlain, shaw, llannana etc. Seems they are producing the golden generation like West Ham & Man United did in the 90's. Good to see a little club punching above it's weight and long may it continue.
