geordie1234 Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Why do we not have any specialist racing in the Uk like they do on the continent? For instance sprint racing through the season or middle etc? Could this be a reason for loses? Every week the distance creeps up is that not like asking Usain bolt to win the 100 200 400 1500 metre and so on?

geordie1234 Posted June 12, 2014 Author Report Posted June 12, 2014 Not really what I was getting at mate More like if you have a sprint man who wants to compete up to 150 miles every week right through the season or middle distance guys etc PS I like all the races so would go to as much as I could anyway Next season I'm hoping to start a sprint team for up to 250 and that's it as my pigeons are 95% distance blood which can't compete early on
Kyleakin Lofts Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I have been saying this for a time now George. The old system was to race from start to finish, to go the distance, but now some have no wish or desire so to do, just as Gav posted. If racing was organised properly, with co-operation, we could have sprint races every week, middle distance races starting later in the season and then later again when the distance races took over you could alternate the distance and middle races, but still have the sprints. Spot the weak link in the formula.

We better just continue the way it has been done all those years in the past until the fancy dies out. There is no point in talking about new ideas which may encourage some to stay in the fancy, even if those ideas fit in better with todays social circumstances where a lot of men take more to do with the upbringing of their children and have less time to themselves. This, I think, is a major reason behind the upsurge of sprint enthusiasts.
